gee... its not like the m3 is some super car... its just a more expensive 3 series... people drive their 5 series, 7 series cars year round all the time. and some of those cars cost more than the m3...

only car i'd consider storing is a ferrari or lambo or maybe a gt3 porsche... i know people who drive their 130k porsche turbos year round. no biggie.

Hey 3s-a-charm, nice to see someone else using there oem 19's with snow tires. Which ones did you get? I got Dunlop SP winter sport 3D's coming in soon. I wanted to get the Blizzak Lm-60's,but they're all sold out for 19's. Did you use a staggered setup a straight one? I'm using 255/35R-19's all around so I can rotate them around every year.

While I agree you should drive the car year round for most parts of the US if I lived in Canada or maybe upstate NY, North Dakota or any other place that gets big snow or lots of cold I'd just stick with a Subie and maybe get a two-seater for the summer with the money saved.

Why RWD and good snows or chains can get you around I'd want the confidence of AWD and snows.

i bought my car to drive it not sit in the garage i will be getting my snows on next week and be driving it all winter. winter driving is a blast. as long as you wash your car off regularly nothing happens to it. i drove my past 2 M's in the snow and never had any damage to them. i got more chips etc during the summer then i did in the winter

nothing more fun then blasting your M on the roads in some fresh powder when knowone is out and the roads are all clear

The snow was not too deep today, but it was zero-degrees. I was taking pictures of wildlife and couldn't resist one of my car:

That was my Canon 5D MkII with the EF 24-105mm f4L lens. I use a 7D with a 400mm f5.6L for birds and wildlife and the 5D2 for everything else. That image was at ISO 3200, with the sun already down. The 5D2 is incredible at high-ISO conditions.

A few minutes later I shot this with the 7D:

It's a little more noisy, but it was essentially dark by this time.

I'm a firm believer in that. Putting cars on pedestals never made sense to me. It'll clean up nicely.

I am a firm believer in driving the car too, that is why I drive the E36 M3 in the crap weather and my E90 stay snuggly warm in the garage! I'll take her out if the roads are clear...that is it.

It hardly snows in Annapolis anyway, or does it? If I had an old car and didn't have snows on my E92 M3, then I'd drive the older car if it only snowed occasionally. However, here in Colorado it snows enough to invest in winter tires and wheels and enjoy our cars accordingly.

Well u know what, to each his own!

I think maybe some of us are in a position to have multiple vehicles throughout the year!

Why should one drive the M in the winter, when you run into these probs:

1. Ground Clearance
2. Higher Risk of Accidents (Some jackass hits you!)
3. Salt/Rock chips on paint
4. Cant drive the the M hard! the way its meant to be like in summer

The Porsche turbos are AWD!
and FYI I drive the 760, Lexus GS in the winter. Infact prior to that I drove the 745 in the winter too!

The M with good winter set of wheels probably handles well, but I rest my case for the reasons mentioned above

And the M is no supercar but even supercars are driven in the snow and this is what happens
