I thought my M3 sounded good until I ran into..

..a Jaguar F-Type R today on the highway. Not only is this car gorgeous (especially from the back) but holy moly it made my M3 with OEM mod sound like a hybrid. The car backfires like crazy and sounds insane under load. It's loud but not an obnoxious loud either, just super aggressive. And the craziest part is that this is stock…Now I know you can make the M3 as loud, but it'll sound like crap and it'll always be loud. I love how Jag has an exhaust button and wish the M3 had that option as well.

I never thought I would ever buy a Jag in my life but I can definitely see myself in a F-Type R in the future. The more I see this car, the more I want one..except it costs more than double of my M3 and doesn't come in 6MT. What a beast…very well done Jaguar!

F-Type Rs are simply amazing, Stunning looks and sound.

Sat in, started and revved up a brand new AWD R at the dealer the other day... made me want to trade my GTR in instantly.. probably would have if I didn't just buy my E93 M3

Ill get one some day.. but I can wait a few years for depreciation

Yeah! That Jag does sound nice out the box.
One pulled up next to me, and i was so impressed by the looks and sound.
After looking at some reviews, that's all it is? Looks & sound!

Wow i am a bit surprised that a GT-R owner would fancy a Jaguar and buy an E93 M3. Buying an M3 shows good taste in cars. Even porsche owners have a soft spot for an M3.

I never considered a jaguar. Reliability concerns quickly dissipate the thought.

I'm split on the Jag V8 sound, it sounds like any other V8 to me, which isn't a bad thing, but you can get the same noise from a truck V8. The S65 sounds unique, even if it's not as loud.

The R was on my short list - the only thing I did not like was the "quick shift" tranny. Had it a double clutch or MT option I would be driving one today.

On yeah, the V8 sounds great. If I owned that car I would drive it in 2nd gear the entire time

I love all the pops, burps and crackles when you up or down shift. It just sounds mean.

Guys you should sometimes have someone else drive your M3 and follow in another car just to listen to it from outside being driven. Most m3 owners end up forgeting how it sounds from outside. I rarely see M3's in my area. Saw and followed one the other day with my beater car. Wow, just wow, the onlooker sound experience, i am in love with my car again . Beats a jaguar especially with an exhaust.

Actually a valvetronic exhaust system would give you all that without having to buy a jaguar. They do sound great on decel, like a really pissed Mustang.

This is a great point, but I love my baby too much to hand the keys over to someone else, unless its the mechanic...

From the interior, the M3 makes mostly induction noise, especially up high. they sound really nice from outside. Very different from the muscle-y sounding F Type-S or Type-R V8s but I think they sound pretty good once you open them up. The S65 is a LOT quieter stock, but once you get a good exhaust on them, they sound pretty good outside.

I like the Jag better from the inside of the car. I grew up with 4 cylinders with intakes (S2000, SR20DE, etc) so I'm a little tired of induction noise, since it all sounds the same (like an overpowered dyson being water buffalo raped). Exhaust notes vary a lot more, and I like hearing the different tones.

Have someone make a recording of your car as you drive by, the car sounds pretty different from outside.

Yea I get that quite a bit lol. I bought the GTR because I liked its looks and performance obviously. Not because I was a Japanese car fanboy. I actually despise most attainable Japanese cars because of the kids that drive them.

I first got the GTR because it was a good entry level supercar me. Hopefully I'm selling it next summer for my real dream car (Gallardo) I almost regret buying the GTR cause I could have had my gallardo this summer.

I love Rover, Benz, BMW, Jags, Audi, and obviously lambos . Those cars will always be more special to me than any American or Japanese car

Dont get me wrong I love my GTR but it's a pain in the ass to drive here in Wisco. If Im gonna drive something that requires me to be this careful it might as well be a Lambo

Just wait 1.5 -2 years they will depreciate to about half the MSRP. Then snag one.

Man, if the F Type depreciates that fast I might get one! Kept as a weekend toy it won't have that much opportunity to break down (or will it?) A guy at my gym bought a new sky blue F Type R coupe and it is really cool, but not quite $106k cool.

no way, I don't think the stock M3 exhaust from an onlooker perspective is better than the Jaguar's sounds.

Not even close.

While I support you with this, getting this cool cat would clash with your dog themed auto theme...just saying, you may want to consider the other dogs on M3post beforehand.

As long as the dog is riding (or driving) the cat, all is permissible.
