I am pissed!
So I noticed a slow leak at my left rear tire. I have tire and rim insurance so I took it down to BMW of Honolulu. They looked at it and said there is a nail in the tread . So the s/a was acting like he had no record of my insurance, and the replacement cost for 1 tire is $625.00!!! I bought the 4 tires new in Las Vegas for $1500.00. And he is trying to sell me 1 for $625.00! I pay every month for the insurance and he doesn't want to honor the policy. I am pissed!

i don't see why this is an issue here..Call your old dealer in NV for the records and receipts of the program sign up and payment...shove it up their face and tell them to replace that darn tire.

You don't have anything in writing proving you have the coverage? If I was paying every month for something I'd sure have what it is in writing.

Let's face it, insurers are not in the business to pay claims. They are in business to take your premiums and make money. So, it is up to you to prove to them that they must pay a claim. Hey...it's nothing personal...

+1 on what DBH said! If it is a BMW policy the dealer should have no problem honoring the warranty. If it is a third-party warranty, you will have to provide proof that the tires are insured and then the dealer will likely have to get the replacement approved by that company. Hope you have the paperwork from the dealer in Vegas...

Happened to me. First time the dealer covered it and the rims no problem. The 2nd time around a different dealer gave me the run around stating that I did not buy the policy with them blah blah blah. All in all they lasted 1 month with my car and did absolutely nothing. BMW OF MANHATTAN TO BE EXACT, the person I was dealing with was named Freddy. He told me I needed to buy the tires since the ones I had on my car weren't the original ones aka Michelin but they were still Continentals which are also sold by bmw. Once I bought the tires and delivered them to him, he still gave me the run around and did nothing. Had to tow my car out of there to a rim shop for repairs.

Find your paperwork, simple. Also, if you had a second vehicle I would of never paid 625 for a damn tire lol.

Not sure what's the benefit of having tire insurance. The longer you go without a claim the more it benefits you and the inusrance company unless you live near a construction zone.

OP, I keep a copy of the Wheel/Tire insurance in my glove box of my car and everyone one of my family member's respective cars because you never know when an incident will occur. I suggest that you obtain another copy and do the same. Last edited by Ghetto2315; 07-30-2013 at 08:10 AM.. |

Hence what I said, no big deal, pull up your records or call the point of sale and retrieve docs. Hurdle solved. Unless op is lazy or there was an unlikely catastrophic loss of purchase record on the dealer side, what's the big deal? This is an annoyance at worst...
