Just to clarify, do you mean "not the usual post filled with anger" as in differing from my usual posts or differing from the usual replies to the OP's question??

I believe that one would be rightfully interpreted either way!

Ha I meant usual post... I haven't necessarily noticed your posts in particular as being angry

Sorry guys did not mean to start a bad thread on my 1st post : (

So I drove the 6mt tonight, omg!! Wow, wow. My wife was with me on the drive and she was very impressed with the car, she tried to turn the stereo on to see how it sounded I told her who cares turn it off and roll your window down. Wow, I am still in shock as I sit here in a bar having a beer. Wow what a car! Tomorrow we will try the DCT. Did not mean to start an issue here. More to follow.

I'm glad that someone finally brought this up. Even though this car has been out since 2008 and it is refreshing to see this subject broached.

Props on the termite comment. I'm still laughing.

LOL at commuting 2.5 miles with coffee in hand. That and a 6MT vs DCT question.... 0 to trolling in just one post!
If you can't wait 2 minutes to get your coffee on you should just buy a Toyota appliance. Dunno if the 6MT in the E9x is the same as my E39, but it's pretty stiff in the morning before it warms up, so a short commute will magnify any annoyance you have with a manual, and you'll be much more likely to get carbon buildup. (Is that a problem in the S65?)

M POWER = 6MT for PURE DRIVING PLEASURE!

I regret getting a SMG for my 2004 M3. I realized it's either PURE MANUAL or PURE AUTOMATIC for me when I get a new car in the future.

If you plan to keep the car for more than 5 years, go PURE MANUAL. I am almost out of the warranty period and praying to GOD that my SMG box doesn't break down on me.

How is this related to your DCT question, you might ask? Well, both SMG and DCT have peddle shifts.

I changed my peddle shifts at approx 55,000miles (approx 90,000km). They weren't working at all. I got them replaced under warranty. Otherwise it would've cost me $850CDN to do parts and labor.

SAVE the DCT money for an exhaust.

well I have the 6mt and I can tell you some times I feel like the dct would have been worth it.. other times when I'm gunning it I think to myself wow 6mt is hella-fun...

so to sum it all up i'm not really sure anyone here has an answer for you, it's personal preference. & when it's not personal preference it's just you being indecisive. good luck

That's the most ridiculous thing i've ever heard,

The purpose of this forum is so that we can tell people what car they should be driving and ridicule everyone who does not have a car exactly like ours.

I have to admit you guys seem to have a good time on this forum, I don't mind the poking fun, I should have thought about my question a bit more before asking it on my first post. No worries. I know most of these options etc are personal preference but it nice to get the perspective of people who have lived with certain combos etc. Hell, even I have regretted picking a certain option or color when at the time of purchase I was so sure.

If locking this thread is a better option, I promise I will post an new "non-troll-like" thread as I get closer to pulling the trigger.

thanks!
