Gasman,
Huge congrats as the first US person to receive M-DCT on this forum in the states. Like you said, words can't describe how it feels ... but it just feel right. Again, congrats |

Gasman, your review compliments Senior Bs review nicely. The complete picture (in words) is coming into view. I should take delivery next week NLT Friday, I can't wait to experience it myself. Congrats.

Thanks for the fantastic review. Enjoy your new toy!
It will be interesting to hear the differences between s3-s5 once you can really test them out and not have to baby her. |

Thanks...you are correct.."It just feels right". Hopefully, Skierman, Fifth, Apw2607 and the rest can give a better review than I can. I can promise you this....it is humanly impossible to shift faster than this car.

thanks for the review..
How do you prevent the auto-mode from giving you 6K+ revs? It would seem hard to figure without knowing what is going to happen when it kicks-down and to what gear it will give you. Do you enjoy the car more with auto or manual mode? It seems like even the auto mode has a fun side with the more aggressive settings. |

That is in fact a lot off RPMS compared to my E46 M3; 100km/h (62 m/h) is 2300 RPMS in 6th gear....................... |

Thanks for the review. The best thing (obviously) here is your clear distinction among the various modes. Interesting to know that the auto downshifting chooses a different number of gears solely based on the mode. I imagine there will be plenty of subtleties beyond what you have noticed but those may not be apparent until some much more aggressive driving. Thanks again and enjoy your new baby!

If I want to be involved and run it up to 5500 on every shift than manual mode is great for this. It's very addicting listening to the throttle blips on that V8 during downshifts in this mode. If I'm just cruising around, than auto is perfect for this. You don't get as much throttle bliping and downshifting as you decelerate in the auto mode. It's not until you depress the accelerator that you notice it. If you are in auto mode and are coming up to a red light...it will stay in 7th gear and not downshift until you are stopped or coming to a stop. But as soon as you touch the gas...she's ready to rock.

I am also interested in this observation. Does it really turn over at 3000 rpm at 60 mph in 7th gear? Seems pretty high for 7th gear. No wonder it doesn't get better mileage.

Don't quote me on that!! It was really hard to do 60mph in this thing. It might have felt like 60 but was really 80. I'll do some more testing when the rain stops. This might be a good time to experience S6!!
