....when "driving for your passenger's comfort" is no longer an objective.
....you're tapped out of adrenaline on a daily basis.
....you take routes that were a waste of time in a "regualar car", but now are now the only way to get to point A to B. (This confuses the wife, "you used to hate to go this way...")
....start racing motorcycles, which are more than happy to oblige (they also help to reveal cops in hiding ahead of you, while you have it WOT)
....when mini-vans try to "prove" something, while you're cruising along at 60mph or at a stop light...
....when you pop your hood after you pull in to the garage just to admire your engine.
....when you buy more micro fiber clothes than toilet paper at costco.
....when others ask you what you drive and you have to think for a moment to assess the situation, because you want to minimize "hate-and-discontent".
.....when the old dude driving the $120K 7-series is checking your ride out.

These two are pretty good and totally true. On the first one, I don't really think much about "hate", but I tend to assess the situation and decipher how knowledgeable this person is about cars, which may bring a response from "a BMW" to "an E90 M3". Regarding the second one, I ran into an old guy driving an Audi A8 (6.3L) not too long ago, who parked right next to me (empty section in parking lot) and said; "Ultimate Driving Machine" with a thumbs up; it was pretty cool.

When you drive in a tunnel or a underpass and u mash on the gas just to hear that beast come alive even if it's for only a few feet.

2008 BMW M3  [0.00]
Your tripod and camera are a fixture in your garage
You look for deserted places from which you can photograph your car
You keep your camera in the trunk for those "just in case" shots at the golden hours

I do most of the stuff mentioned here ... also

When your wife walks between her and your car in the garage and puts her left hand onto your car to support herself (rings on her fingers) ... and you give her hell for doing so like ....

"can't you walk on the other side of your car, can you not see that you might scratch the paint on my car!"

Yes then you know for sure

I have to agree with Jeremy Clarkson ... it's only logical especially when the stationary object is a Autobahn underpass ... I've seen many a cars been scraped of the walls after they meet the wall. Not a nice site I can assure you. Perhaps you have seen it too since you are in Germany.

I have seen some horrific car wrecks on the Autobahn, not pretty. Do you go to the Ring often?

Never been to the ring yet, plan to sometime in future. I get back to Germany every 2 to 3 years mainly family visits ... car museums and factories like VW, BMW, Porsche and Mercedes my excuse of course is "I'm a car nut"

Very kind of you! Should you ever be in Canada I'll return the favour, we are very close here to Niagara Falls it is visited by many folks from all around the world. Must be fun to be so near the Ring.

I see you are about a 2 hour drive north of München and very close to the Ring.

M3 owners are the only ones who say a "E_ _ M3" when you ask them what kind of car they drive. other BMW drivers say "a 3-series" or "a 328i" or even "a BMW" when asked the same question
