Drone with Ginani race....pretty bad for DD?
I will be a new "M" owner on Friday...
I have kids that are used to my RS4 with a Milltek and a bit of drone (RIP RS4). My new M Sedan will be here Friday and I'm deciding on a Sport or Race Gintani. Some say it's unbearable, some say it's fine unless you're in that "sweet spot" of around 3K rpms. As long as I can cruise at 65 mph with it and have a conversation with the wife/kids in the car I'll be fine. Any thoughts? Any help would be appreciate.

I have the Sport, and I have to be honest, the drone is annoying to my wife, but my kids don't seem to care!. However, the exhaust sounds incredible. Next time, I would go with something quieter at speed.

Yeah, I ordered my system yesterday, and it seems like Gintani is trying to talk me out of the race and go with the sport. Need to make a decision fast.

Around 3k I'd say the race is pretty loud but outside that range it's definitely bearable, but honestly every exhaust I've had has shown much more drone from 2800-3200 rpm.

Thanks MrHarris,
I think I had read that you had the Race version at one point. I've seen a few people that have had it and had to switch to the sport. So, you're saying I "should" be pretty good on the highway with family in the car at 65mph? The wife has always been used to me having exhausts on my cars, but the way people talk about the Gintani race (even the manufacturer), it scares me.

I just talked to them and am going with the Race version. If I don't like it, I'll offer it up for a nice price to one of you guys after I put a few hundred miles on it.

Yeah it sounds amazing that's no doubt. I think it would only be annoying if you're going up an incline, and at about 72-77mph.
