Too much.

Not to mention a previous DUI and the age factor. Bad mix.
(and no there was no drunk driving in the M).

$1600 a year isn't that bad, considering the assessed value(over $65k), and you bought brand new I'm guessing. If you don't mind me asking did you put it down as your DD?

How bad would insurance be, lets say for a 17.5 year old driving an 2009 BMW M3 E90, assessed value of $45,000, in a small town as a DD, on their parents policy(have clean records).
That is totally not the scenario I'm facing

Based on all the recent "I wrecked my M3" threads written by young, inexperienced drivers, the premium should be $100k a year to discourage parents from being so oblivious and/or irresponsible in allowing their kids to have such a car. You spend 17 years raising your child, nurturing them, educating them, trying to keep them away from unnecessary harm, and then you give them the keys to a 420hp weapon? Funny way of showing love.

come on man.... im 19 and ever since i was 16 with my permit iv been drving my dads cars... m6 m3.. and yeah i may speed alittle from time to time but it doesnt matter what car the kid has, i see kids with vdubs and they do stupid shit all the time. If he kids smart the kids smart, doesn't matter if you give him the keys to a 150hp car or a 600hp machine.

Completely agreed. There's a reason insurance rates drop when you hit 26.

I don't think anyone at the age of 16 and driving an M3 is paying for their own Insurance(or the car for that matter). I think this thread title should be How much is your dad paying for your M3's insurance?
