Well, he did...past tense.

His motor blew on the dyno a few months ago.

Cracking ringlands causes a loss of compression which falls under a "blown" engine. Fortunately for you it just wasn't a catastrophic failure.

There was nothing wrong with the supercharger system, G-power put the wrong software onto the ECU which made the pistons go bad.

Damn, Its so sick that no one ever mentioned anything about the Gpower superchargers and blown motors until yesterday, and thats cause a member mentioned something. Meanwhile every kit out there had issues. Looks like everyone was keeping their mouths shut. Either way, Im glad they figured out the issues and taking care of all their customers. However it must suck to have almost all their kits fail.

Much of it got disscussed in this thread almaost 2 months ago: http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=296696

The first issues were known to a very few MONTHS before that.

At the end, it seems G-Power did the right thing and took care of them.

Did you use OEM pistons on your rebuild, or aftermarket? Any comments on whether or not the OEM pistons really are forged?

There was a thread about it a month ago, a few pages long...

Damn, I didn't know of the blown motors either. Seems like every GPower car blew its motor. What an expensive mistake not to properly test their kits, especially with so few sales and such an expensive motor.

And the S65 it's not a weak motor by itself, but it's nearly maxed out from the factory (for street use, with the expected reliability and durability), so definitely weak if blown, no?

Is this the truth about this motor? Does it have to be built to handle more power?

OP - Happy to hear you have your vehicle back.

NOPE unless you're going over a certain boost level.

That is awesome customer service for you there.
I use to have a Twin Turbo G35 coupe, the people who installed it didnt wrap the wastegate line that ran to the wastegates, and it touched the exhausts and it melted. Right then, my boost gauge showed 25+ PSI and BAM bye bye engine. The shop who installed it did not want to take responsibility for their crappy work. Horrible experience.
Im glad AutoTalent and Gpower did a good job

No

G-Power will cover motors that had kits installed by their Authorized Dealers only. I didn't have a wideband installed I knew I shoud have though. Its not really the a/f that was bad it was due to detonation too much timing.

Thanks, I will be N/A with all my old stuff for a lil while until we figure out what to do next.

YUP +1 it will be better soon. I plan on bettering those numbers with the new file.

As I said before too much timing caused detonation and you're right the best engine in the world with the strongest shit with blow with the wrong file. The S65 isn't a weak motor period.

I have no idea about the other supposed blown cars all I know about is my car and another local car so I can't comment on those.

To everyone else thanks for the comments.

So you were lucky - one major blow in Germany left about 5 quarts of Castrol TWS on the street since one rod escaped the engine
But congrats that it is running again!!!

I had these same issues on my srt-10 viper truck with a sts turbo installed by ROE racing in green coe springs florida. Engine blew because of poor engine tuning by roe racing(very bad people to deal with) however STS stepped up and fixed the problem. Very great that g-power/auto talent has also stepped up.

Yep, that's exactly why I was messing with him about having a new 'stroker' engine. Jon didn't catch on to what I was talking about apparently.

That's because he now has more than the standard factory 3,999 cc engine the rest of us have ...

Strokers FTW! lol...

Glad to hear you got your car fixed... why did you decide against re-installing the kit if you believe they worked out the problem? And if or when you do decide, will they do it for free again?

I didn't decide against it I just didn't want to put it on a motor before break in and Autotalents work schedule is hectic. Besides I don't mind getting in some N/A time again I want to hit up the strip in November and see what I do N/A since I never got a chance before.
