How to tell if tire is runflat

Lot's of great info on this forum. I've been doing some searching, and everyone here are saying M3 do not comes with runflat. However, when I picked up my 2008 E93 CPO a few weeks ago, the sales rep told me the car has run flat.

My question is how can I tell if I have runflat on my car, what symbol or letters indicate runflat ? The tires are Michelin Pilot Sport 265/35ZR19 on the rear and 245/35ZR19. I remember reading one of the thread that Michelin do not make runflat for the 19", is this correct ?

Thanks

TireRack does not list a run-flat for this size. On Michelin you'll see some designation to the effect of "zero pressure" or "ZP" on the sidewall. Unless someone added RFT's to your car, you don't have RFT's from the factory. There are a few knowledgeable car sales people, but most car sales people are stupid.

It clearly says on the sidewall. The language varies, but it's pretty obvious. Look for 'EXTENDED MOBILITY TIRE', 'ZERO PRESSURE TIRE', RUN FLAT TECHNOLOGY', etc.

It should have a RFT logo on there.

Here's a picture from the tire rack website. Note the Zero pressure on the outside about 12 O Clock. Michelin Ps2 ZP.

New M3's don't come with run flats, though my CA tried to convince me mine had run-flats. CPO, who knows, I somehow doubt the dealer put RFT's on because the RFT version is usually fairly more expensive than the non RFT version. Might have been a previous owner who didn't like the thought of pumping goop in his flat tire in a bad neighborhood.

Tirerack website doesn't show any 19" RFT PS2's

Michelin website shows no such ZP tire in your size

So long answer, Not Run Flats

Thanks to all for you reply. I guess I will not rate the sales rep 100% on the BMW – Purchase Experience Survey.
