If you trailer your car, check your trailer lugs after each leg of the trip. Check trailer tire air pressure too.
If an eeze-up starts to float away in the wind, do not grap it hoping your strapping, 175lb frame will serve as an anchor against Mother Nature. Mother Nature 1, my skin, -1. Have a track day checklist and actually use it. Bring spare lug bolts (nuts if you have studs). Pack for the track early (tools, clothes, safety gear, spares, etc.). Never miss a chance to pee, eat, hydrate. Put your car key in the same spot every time you come off track. Same for your helmet.

When you buy a used trailer check the born on dates for the trailer tires. Blew four tires in one week.......one of them heading to the track missing the first session.

There's also no such thing as having too many trailer tire spares (I routinely ran with two wheels and tires as spares for the trailer).

The trailer is an enclosed Featherlite and in excellent condition. Good tread on the tires but 5 years old. The spare had just blown out so it took a trip to Les Schwab (horrible service....they were more concerned about filling the popcorn machine than helping me )

uh oh. I think I recognize that license plate, better remove that crash video from the forum to protect his privacy and what's left of his dignity.

Ok, here's one that I haven't seen on here yet-----and it happened to me a few weeks ago at Auto Club Speedway.
I'm going down the front straight on the oval----doing 130mph, feel a thump, car goes into limp mode. I'm coasting around the rest of the oval, thinking we'll just limp around the track back to the pits. My friend says "uh, your rpms are zero......" I'm like what?? Never saw that before. Car won't start at all. (Car has 50 track days on it.) Spent the next couple days worrying and waiting for EAS to open up to see what the damage was....... They jumped into the glovebox and checked the fuses. I had blown an engine fuse.....Replaced the fuse and the car roared back to life like nothing happened. Cheapest fix EVER! So, guess what's sitting in my glovebox now? A bag full of spare fuses. |

But can you get one installed without black flagging the session?

You know what's funny....I was able to coast to a portion of infield off the track. A tow truck was just sitting there, and was able pull me off the track sneaking through the infield. They never even put a yellow flag up because of me as far as I could tell.

If your local tracks are any like here in SoCal " far and away from civilization" bring cash and two or more credit cards for fuel. Man, one time I had borrow $$ for fuel "Buttonwillow" because the gas pump couldn't get a signal.

True here for me also. I always have multiple cards to choose from, 2 is most fill ups on 1 allowed. Could be my cards though also.
