Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta review
After 6 weeks with the Vreds, my impressions are still good with one exception. The ride quality (harshness) is substantially poorer than with PS2s. Impacts in particular are strongly felt. For a daily driver this may be something people will want to consider. I know I may not get them again.

I don't mind the ride since performance is my goal, but for those concerned with the ride the PS2s might be a little smoother and soak up bumps better. Maybe it is the cars I drive or the tires I use but I didn't notice that the ride was much worse. But, with the sidewall differences I saw when the PS2s were removed and the Vreds were installed, I am inclined there will be a difference- negligible for me.

Vred ride quality
That's my impression (post 229 above). Not terrible, but significantly harsher than the PS2s.

I am trying to figure out how much this is and if I will be able to live with it. I occasionally track my M3, and most of the remaining time I do 40% highway and/or spirited driving, and 60% city driving. So 60% of milage in the city is a bit too much for me to ignore if the ride discomfort is potentially "major". Question is how annoying can this be, which I guess is a bit hard to quantify over the internet! |

I just ordered 2 sets,
275/35/18 square for autox/track (new Apex ARC-8 18x10 rims) 255/35/18, 275/35/18 for DD Track set will be mounted tomorrow. I'll post some reviews/pics pretty soon.

I agree that the Vreds are somewhat harsh and noisy when compared to the PS2s, but, after 800 miles, the performance is equal to or better than the PS2s. One thing I have noticed is that the Vreds take awhile to break in. I don't remember this being the case with the PS2s.

"Break-in"
All tires take at least a couple hundred miles to get rid of the mold release compound and scuff them up a bit.

I didn't get real grip until about 800 miles.
For me, the harshness/noise is not a deal breaker at all.

Hey Everyone,
I have H&R springs and 15mm spacers with OEM rims all around. Is 275/23/19's going to rub in the back with this setup? I feel that 265's in the back is tight already. What do you think I should do change the spacers? Thanks for you help! |

Yes, you can go thinner on the spacers if needed. Try them out before you decide on the size, though.

I've got about 300 miles on these now, 200 miles highway up/down from LA. I pushed them a bit this weekend. Here's my opinion so far..
- Definitely hear more road noise than the PS2's, though that may decrease as they wear in. - Cornering, squealing a fair bit, but I don't think they're broken in fully yet. - Stickiness/Confidence, I took my regular freeway interchange at the same speed as I would with the PS2s and these felt as good. - turn in, these tires are crisp, I'm running 275 all around, but sidewalls definitely feel stiffer. I used to get that rollover on sharp turns with the PS2's, I get the squealies with the vreds, but not the squirrelies. -Looks, might be just the new rims, but today I got 2 compliments about how "sick" the car looked. Stock except apex Arc-8 18x10 rims and the 275/35/18 vreds. M3s are common in my area. I have autox next weekend on this setup and hope to get a track day in very soon, so I'll post back.

Damn...Tires Easy are out of 255/35/19s. Where else can I get these? Performance Tires charges too much for shipping and tax.
Would 255/40s work up front?

Thx for the informative review. More road noise than the PS2's, eh? That's surprising. I am running the kook ventus evos and they are definitely quieter yet just as grippy.
I was planning to get the Vreds on my extra set of OEM 19's.... Quote:

Well they are "right out of the box" so maybe they'll get better with wear. The stiffer sidewalls definitely transmit more of the road feeling upwards.

I don't notice any more road noise with the Vreds compared to PS2s, just slightly more ride harshness.
