Even after reading this review, I still would have like to get this engine. It would have been a cool approvement over stock.

Dinan Core
Does anyone know how the Dinan Engine core deal works? do you have to pay the 26k upfront and then wait for them to send you the 20k core refund? if so how long does that take? If you take the car to a Dinan Dealer can you just give them the 6 grand and let them keep your engine there?

Ideally the concept of having a 4.6L NA engine sounds great. The price point and value or lack thereof doesn't justify the cost. For that price alone you can get the ESS VT1/2 and a BBK and perhaps a decent exhaust.

Weird. The Roundel review of the S3-R raved about how the torque would reverse th rotation of the earth. This review further confirms that Roundel car reviews are biased and , in my opinion, borderline crap.
The $26k doesn't even include the throttle bodies, intake, exhaust, and x-pipe needed to get to 507hp. I do understand why someone would want a stroker. This is the last NA M3 for the forseeable future...which S/C it? I wonder what components are needed to convert the engine to GTS spec?

"Be The Best of the Best"
Agree - really, the Dinan 4.6 Stroker seems like it is the "Stuff" for a NA power-plant, but pricey and messing with something which is already optimally tuned, even though it is a Dinan ?). Plus, the stock is "perfect as is." But, still just want to "beat any" of the other, comparable "stock" competition (C63, GT-R, yet alone the soon-to-be "Black" C63 coupe - Ouch !). IMHO, the big-three: (1) quality, (2) handling and (3) build of the M3 is "THE BEST" (No Question!). The flat-out, raw power (HP & NM) is where we are lacking - therefore, if money were secondary (which it never is ), what would you do: Dinan mid-exhaust/Dinan Tune/Dinan Intake vs Arkapovic/MS Intake/Dinan Tune, +/- 3.45 FD with either, or Dinan 4.6 Stroker? "BE THE BEST OF THE BEST" - What's your vote?

Based on my seat time, I wouldn't spend the coin on the stroker. As I've stated before, I'm all in for the quality of Dinan products. For those people seeking their next victory at the stop light, Dinan might not be for you. But if build quality, solid support (if needed) and mods that don't compromise an already great car are what you are seeking, find yourself a authorized Dinan dealer and go for broke............Phil

what i am wondering after reading this is...is the car still for sale? b.c 74k seems like a steal and paying 77k for my new 11' and adding 10k in aftermarket performance parts now makes me feel like a dickhead.

Yes the price is outrageous, but 500hp, 400lb-ft with full warranty is pretty sick! The "factory approved" aspect is why Dinan is able to charge so much.
A modded car will always be a better value; with $100k I could buy and mod an E92 M3 that was much faster than a $120k M3 GTS. Although I would never buy the 4.6 stroker, if money or even value wasn't an issue, it would still be a sick M3!!

But you'll have harder time selling a car that was modded with 3rd party parts vs a car thats stock or is modded by manufacturer (M3 GTS).
