OnStar equivalent?

For only the second time in four years I locked myself out of my Chevy Equinox by putting my keys with my camera gear in the cargo area. As soon as the liftgate came down I knew what I'd done. I called OnStar and they gave me a "courtesy" unlock signal.

Does BMW have an OnStar equivalent, in case this happens with my new X1, which is currently becoming gorgeous San Remo green in the paint booth right now?

You can do it yourself with the BMW app.

With the “My BMW” you can check the status of your BMW and its location. You can both lock and unlock the SUV with the app.

BMW’s “On Star’, with a person at the end of an emergency call from your car, and accident tracking, is called BMW Assist eCall and Teleservice. It’s part of the BMW Connected Drive services.
