Exclamation BMW M3 GT takes 2nd place at 2011 Nurburgring 24

They really gave it all they got. Manthey Racings Number 18 Porsche GT3-RSR takes the gold and sets a new distance record of 156 Laps.

The Number 1 BMW M3 GT gets second place. The Number 7 BMW fell back and finished in 26th place.

The Number 14 Audi gets 3rd after the Number 32 SLS whch held the spot for the entire race fell off towards the end of the race.

I heard about this and said...welp, thats why people go up to porsche after bmw. Also, I know how those GTs were hauling ass on those SLSs in the last VLN that I watched at the ring. M3 is still a hell of a beast

The #7 M3 GT2 didn't finish, but valiant effort! We had a hellova time keeping our M3 running but we DID finish! The Manthey Porsches have won 5 out of the last 6 24Hr races. You can only do that by having the best prepared crew. BMW won last year because the leading Manthey Porsche crashed into a 130i. Thats just racing though. Shit happens!
BMW did really well this year and the race was really down to a Pit Stop. For Porsche and BMW it was really a 24 hour sprint race! imagine driving 14 laps straight at 2am just to gain 30 seconds on your competitor! just unreal how demanding this race actually is.

Hey karussell, I followed you best I could during the race, congrats on the finish!

Can you make a new thread outlining the race for you and how it went? Any insight in running a crazy endurance race like this? I would really love to hear your take on the entire experience if you have the time.

Very much looking forward to this thread! What an incredible level of concentrated physical and mental effort this must require... Or are you on adrenaline autopilot by 2am?? Do you practice by flying up the A7 from Hamburg to Flensburg in the middle of the night?

Congrats again on the finish.
