GoPro footage from HPDE at Laguna Seca
Experience:
This was my 21st track day, second day at Laguna Seca but my first track event in 5 years so I had some rust. Car: Stock 6MT M3 sedan Tech except running Apex ARC-8 18x10 Square setup with Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta 275/35/18(Paddys setup) and ATE super gold brake fluid Setup: There were 4 run groups, A/B,C, D1 and D2. A is the most advanced through D least, I ran in the C group. Summary: 1st session was kind of warm and the instructor ran a few laps. 2nd session had rain for about half of it, Turn 11 was very slick in the wet.. My previous time at Laguna Seca was rain almost the whole day so could of been worse. 3rd and the final 4th session was dry. I ran EDC in sport, seems stiff on the street but soft on the track, not surprising. The car if very buttoned down and does not get out of sort that easy. Some people might not like this but it will allow most people to go fast. I ended up running MDM the whole day, originally planned to turn DSC off after the first session or two. I did not find it obtrusive and only kicked in a few times. Instructor was telling me to throttle steer it more out of the andretti turn but that amount that I was, MDM was not activating. I would guess if I had another day I probably would of wanted it off. I had decent amount of brake fade at the last session right before dropping into the corkscrew. I seemed to be braking later and harder then others in my group so losing some braking effect was a bit scary but at least they did not go out. Again, another day plus without the rain I might had more brake issues. Overall a good day and fun with the M3. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ From my recent Laguna Seca track event in my e90 m3. It is a bit long, full session including warmup/cooldown, but thought people might like to see the whole thing anyways.
