thanks man, I'm using Canon XTI with the kit lens (18mm-55mm). I'm Wanting to get a 70-300mm telephoto, But that lens is almost as much as my XTI body. So I will have to wait awhile for that. I use different settings, for the track pic's I just used the sport mode and for the others I used M mode.

Sweet pics - my favorite is the one of the museum.

Are you new to photography, this your first DSLR? Just curious - I am getting into it myself, am reading Understanding Expsosure by Bryan Peterson while I wait for my camera to get here.

If you don't mind me asking what did you pay for your Camera + Kit Lens? I just want to compare the price to what I paid for my Canon Rebel XSi.

Doug,
Yes, This is my first DSLR and I've only owned it for less than a week. I'm now able to shoot fully manual mode! Newegg.com is where I got my camera. I got a combo package and it came out to be around 760ish. Newegg is your best bang for your buck I think. Are you interested in Nikon or Canon? If you have anymore questions just shoot me a pm

I had the Camera on AV with Aperture at 4.5, ISO 400 and 1 second exposure. I think I was in full zoom also

Very nice pics with even the stock lens. Great job.

Look into the 17-55, probably the best all around lens on the market for the xti.

thanks man. I'm looking into a Macro lens and a Telephoto. I used my good friends fathers 70-300mm and it was insane on how far out I could capture.

Heh yeah. You should try the 50mm f1.4. It is amazing for capturing people and things up close.

I'll look into that. I want to be able to shoot small bugs like this one here. This isn't my picture btw.
Absolutely amazing!

I was thinking about getting one of these myself, but the 50mm f1.8 because the 1.4 is so much more expensive.

WOW! Maybe the 1.4 is worth the extra $200 or so!

The 1.4 is really good.. The focus motor is a lot faster than the 1.8 but you can't justify the price.

Sorry, I mean "bokeh":

Bokeh is derived from the Japanese word meaning "blur." The beauty of the Bokeh is performed by the subtle pleasing blur of the background to bring emphasis on the subject. It requires more than just making backgrounds blurry. It is an art form that requires time and experience to perfect. It requires a good eye to see a vision and it's possibilities. To masterfully blend foreground and background, yet displaying the subject in all it's wonder, that is the art of the "Bokeh."

Example: This is not a photo I took, by the way!
