Thoughts on gun metal ZCPs
Thinking of powdering coats my ZCPs to gun metal. My e92 is interlagos blue.
Currently have some curb damage on the rims so my choices are either repair curb rash or PC my rims: What do you guys think? Will gun metal look good? If I go gun metal should I go polished or matte? Thoughts?

i actually think that the 359M's in GM will look really sick and as far as the finish goes..IMO you should go with matte

I'm going to do chrome shadow (pretty much gunmetal) when my rear tires are worn. Currently looking for shops that will repair the curb rash.

OP... dependent on the shade of the pc, it could look pretty sweet.

Agreed, gunmetal would look great. Haven't seen ZCPs, but check out this threat for gunmetal on IB.

If someone has photoshop skills, that would be really amazing if they could help out.
Ive seen the matte look on IB, im curious to know what it would look like based on W/// 's finish for his gun metal rims he posted above.

They are not BS'ing you. That picture of the M5 wheel is called shadow chrome. There are few shops that can do that type of work and even fewer that can do it right. It's a 3 step paint process that consists of the base, then special shadow coat and then clear coat. You can't do this with powder coat.

Agree with others - this is a black base with translucent silver top layer. Regardless, I like gunmetal better anyway. Shadow chrome is a little dated.
One nice thing about gunmetal is that you can't tell when the wheels are dirty. The silver ZCPs look great (have them myself), but keeping them clean is a PITA. |

I picked up a set of ZCPs and had them powdercoated in a gunmetal like color - I believe the specific name of the powder was "Black Chrome". I also asked the powdercoater to lower the gloss clear coat to less than 50% since I was not a big fan of shiny wheels.
I was skeptical about my choice but was very satisfied with the results. In low light conditions the wheels looks very dark. In direct or more open light, the wheels appear to be close to OEM ZCP color. Below is a pic Low light conditions In daylight Hope this helps |

If I do my ZCP's, I want them a gunmetal similar to the inside of 220 wheels. Metallic.
