I like the comments about "No helmets?"

More likely to need one on the Autobahn.

I've had some adventures at the 'Ring (nothing like that) but I was a lot more concerned in January when I got cut off by a Renault Espace mini-van while overtaking at some speed on the A93 on the way to Regensburg. The guy just didn't see me (or maybe look). The weather was a bit wet but the F10 M5 I was driving had winter tires, just nowhere to go. I had visions of me, the center rail, and a spin. In the end there was but little drama and just cosmetic damage to the M5's right front wheel. The Polizei came, we exchanged information, and were on our way. The really bad thing was I missed my Regensburg BMW Werk tour.

Driving the Nurburgring is sitting in a rollercoaster... That you get to drive. The analogy came to mind on my 3rd lap at Pflanzgarten 2 and 3.

Don't think Pflantzgarten 3 is hairy? What your looking at is a blind right, left, right combo at speed (gained from Pflantzgarten 2).

The videos\games do not represent the elevation changes or the angles of the turns very well. The track takes many laps to learn.

What did this guy expect? He did many things wrong as a driver...

1) Didn't brake before the turn (obviously underestimated the severity of the curve)

2) He entered the corner WAY to early without any idea of where the apex was... (or what an apex is)

3) Having 4 people in the car takes away from the nimblness and agility (fucked yourself there)

4) He needs to learn how to correct over steer and not just keep the wheel turned until it is too late.

5) Faster hands and needs to loosen up. He was tense through that whole scenario.

Hopefully he will learn as a driver that oversteer is a scary as hell and to not think you are mario andretti just because you have an M3...

I want "The Hack" to diagnose this video, haha. Wish I could link a user...

Driving like that you would....but I believe there's a large group of enthusiasts who aren't out there trying to set personal bests/impress their friends. I know I sure as hell wouldn't drop $90K on a car and try to show off in the ring...and I'm pretty sure over there the equivalent pricing for a M3 comes out to quite a bit more than $90k.

If you're in the market and you're willing to buy a crashed one, does it ad to the value if the crash took place on the Nurburgring?

Unless your an outstanding driver, or completely loaded I don't see any reason to really push an expensive car at a track like the ring, no washout zones, always drive with DSC and don't push any harder then you would in a canyon run.

And for the 100th time, the ring isn't technically a track its a toll road, no helmets are required.

Seriously. I found myself reacting quicker when watching the video than the actual driver.

That's too bad. But again. You are risking that every time you get on the track.

Seems like he catches the curb on the left side and the rear loses its traction. What's he doing taking that line anyway in those conditions.

It's like an HPDE - 1 or BMW CCA D student driving with no regulation, no concern for physics, no experience, no rules etc. etc.

Pretty pathetic. Car was going to fast, didn't break early enough and he didn't having the drifting skills to smoothly slide it to an appropriate "out" line and took it into the wall instead

No helmet(s)....but at least he was wearing gloves. Yeah, I am sure the crash was due to the wet conditions. Positive.
