Tire Combo Question

We know that the speedometer of the M3 reads about 3-5% higher than the actual speed. I am getting a set of new wheels in the following size:

Front: 19X9.5 ET22
Rear: 19X10.5 ET25

What would be the appropriate tire sizes for these rims? I'm thinking of the following combination:

1. Front: 255/35R19, Rear: 275/35R19

I'm running 255/35R19 up front for my winter setup so I know the 255 will clear my AC Schnitzer springs with stock EDC struts. This will be about 1.1% larger than stock diameter in the back.

2. Front: 265/35R19, Rear: 285/35R19

This will give me a beefier look. I am not sure if the 265/35 up front will cause any rubbing. Also, I'm not sure if the rear will rub due to the offset. This will be about 2.2% larger in diameter than stock.

Both setup retains the factory front and rear size difference of about 0.6" diameter front and back.

Which one do you think will work better for the rim width?

I think 255/35 front with 285/30 rear, depending on the tire brand you are using.

Your second choice of 265/285 is a good choice for 9.5/10.5 wheels. This is what I ran on the track with my e46 and what I intend to run on the track with the e90.

That's what I think too. I'll just have to find a brand that offers XL for the 285/35.

I agree with this also, there is also another member here on the boards running a 295/30/19 Rear, on his 10.5 TEs.

The problem is I don't want to run an overall diameter that is smaller than the stock rear tires. The 295/30R19 will be 0.3" smaller in diameter than the 265/35R19 PS2, making the speedometer even more inaccurate. That's why I want to do 275/35 or 285/35 instead.

255/35 front, 285/30 rear is what I did and it feels more balanced than stock. I run 9" in the front 10" in the rear. If I were you, I'd go 265/30 front, 295/30 rear.
