Great car, but I wish they made something to be more in line with the GTR. Not really sure what making a car that they are selling at a loss does for the brand. But whatever, awesome car.

I mean, don't all Lexus drivers already have one foot in the grave.... (I kid)

20 years? hasn't only been a little more than 10(like 12?) since supra's production stopped? and i thought it was 9 years that they spent developing this
x 2. The engine sounds like a pure symphony being played by an orchestra in all octaves. There is no analogue rev counter today that can keep up withhow fast the revs move. It hits 0 - 9500 rpm in only 0.6 seconds.

I had already posted this in non-BMW section. LFA has been turning in 7:24 at the Nurburgring so it will be one of the fastest exotics ever.

Considering Porsche Carrera GT cost $450,000 in 2003, it is not a far stretch to see this car costs $350,000 and still Lexus loses money. The technology they use to keep the weight down is unparalleled. Lexus weaves its own carbon fiber, which is an extremely expensive process.

It's actually Ģ340k not $350k. After conversion it's closer to $550,000(USD)!
If I had $500k to blow I would still pick the Carrera GT...

I have corrected several people on this.

Once again, European market is completely independent of US and Canadian market and has no impact on pricing elsewhere. An M3 in Europe costs close to 90,000 Euros. Does it cost $150,000 here? Clearly no!

Short answer is, Lexus has officially revealed in US it will cost $350,000 and around $380,000 in Canada. They will only be offering two year leases in Canada and US with a buyout option at the end of the 2 years in order to avoid people buying to sell it.

You are correct, most of us already know US market is less than most other markets with pricing. I thought you were refering to the Top Gear pricing which was in pounds. Your "official" pricing reveal is wrong though. The official pricing, if you want to know or get on the list that Lexus is compiling, you call 1 (866) 532-4794 and you will find out that the official pricing will be $375-400k(USD) depending on how the car is optioned. So, the car will more than likely be $400,000 (assuming NO mark-up like when the GTR fist came out) as I doubt there will be many stripped down LFA's rolling off the assembly.

Yes for sure this is the case. Although prices in the USA are quoted with out taxes (that are relatively minimal) while in Europe and other countries prices are quoted all tax included. Still, $350 to $400 for a Lexus, even this one?? I donīt know. Sure some crazy rich people will buy it, but I doubt it will sell well. Somewhat like the Buggati or SLR but those at least have the name etc... Remember, it is said sometimes that LFA stands for LFAnt and its white too! haha! Iīll be positively surprised if it ever does sell well, best of luck to Toyota.

Thumbs up

I recently got a hot-lap in it at Fontana and it was definitely the ride of my life. We hit 170 mph on the banked oval and tore up the inner road coarse as well. It's worth every penny. It is essentially Lexus' equivelent of the other supercars like the Carerra GTs and such. Here are some of my pictures

I obviously did not drive the car. I was riding in it.

I am a correspondent/photographer for a magazine and I was the one who took the pictures.

Ok that makes sense to me why you would get that chance and why the pictures are soooo good and professional, which is what made me question the whole thing in the first place. My bad!!! Great pics and sure appears to have been a GREAT day!!! Please do accept my apology.

You sure are not correct on that. Lexus is only making 500 of these over the course of 2 years. Only 150 will be sold in US and only in 10 Canada. 200 are being reserved just for Japan. 60 for all of Europe and rest of the 80 will be sold in smaller markets of Asia, Middle East, Australia, Far east etc.

The only other cars that were carbon fiber supercars were the Porsche Carrera GT and Enzo Ferrari. Both of which were hundred thousands more expensive. Lexus sure believes their product is better than Enzo Ferrari and stand by their product. If you are not aware of it, Lexus weaves its own Carbon Fiber for LF-A, which is 70% of its construction. The chief engineer has claimed LF-A runs "under 7:20 on Nurburgring", but did not go crazy like Nissan did with the GT-R using it as a publicity stunt.

As far as sales are concerned, since all this a halo car meant only to shake things up in the supercar world and to build Lexus' brand image. The last thing Lexus cares about is sales since all the one's to be produced in the first year for US (90 in the first and 60 in the second) were already sold at the beginning of December so Lexus is not even taking anymore orders. Lexus only has 60 more to sell in the 2nd year, which will not begin until end of the year 2010.
