I will bring this up to the dealer.

Again, just so everyone understands: the hood has never been "repainted." I picked up the car two years ago from the dealership with less than ten miles on the car, and the car has had the same hood ever since. Unless the hood was defective from the start, I'm not sure how this could have happened.

Could have happened on the way across the pond. If the damage is below a certain amount they can fix it at the port and not declare it.

I say this respectfully, but how do you know?

The hood could have been painted by the dealer with 1 mile on the odometer..there is no way I see OEM paint wearing this thin on the edges.

I have had the same exact thing happen to me on another car and it was the lousy body shop I used..they did a rush job

Either way the hood needs to be re-sprayed correctly..

So much speculation in here, like the factory can do no wrong.

Bought a 2006 330i brand new from the dealer. It just came off the truck and the door had already been repainted. It can happen, trust me.

Agree with a couple others ^ hood could have been repainted and since the car hadn't been delivered they didn't have to declare it. It could have been anything though. Factory? Do you have pets? Weird kind of vandalism?

Not normal at all. Mine looks perfect. Must have been repainted before.

OP's hood was NOT repainted before. I've seen the car in person.

This has to be some sort of defect from the factory. I've seen plenty of cars with minor dust specs from the factory etc. And yes, that includes BMW.

I just read a while back. Something about BMW owners suing BMW itself for repainting brand new cars.

I do have pets, but nowhere near my car lol. Vandalism, well no way for me to verify.

I have to take my car in for service...so I'll see what I can do

Really....open the hood from time to time and clean it at least...LOL

FYI, the hood is aluminum. Never seen aluminum rust

At any rate, that would drive me nuts seeing that on my car. Sorry you are experiencing this, OP!!
Actually, Aluminum rusts much more quickly than other metals. You just don't see it.

The dealer is usually a douche until they know your gonna trade on for an upgrade. Goto a good body shop and get it fixed and quick. Strange place for it happen.
