Question M3 or R8 or C2S

Hi everyone,

am contemplating between the following cars:
1. E93 M3 DCT
2. R8 R Tronic
3. C2S PDK

I like the drive and overall power of the C2S but already has a cayman (so thought of trying out another make)

Was lucky to be able to test drove the M3, didnt like the initial sluggishness but after 2800rpm, everything comes alive ! I like the car but I aint sure if the liking will last.

Never drove the R8 before, but really likes the look but i feel the car lacks the fun factor. And the R8 seems to depreciate the most among 3 cars!

Well, hope everyone who shares the same experience can share their thoughts and views.

Cheers ...........

minus the R8, I have contemplated...

911- great all around car. Can be a daily driver, and can be a sports car that handles on rails.

M3. All of the above, but much better storage. I think this car you could live with more on a daily basis. The 911 is tricky on storage.

thanx for your feedback

you are like the 4th person telling me to give a miss on the R8.

another + point for M3 over 911 would be the rear seats, and adult can really fit into M3's rear seat but not the 911.

hmmm.... i'd go for the R8 over the m3 if i didnt need to worry bout storage space and passenger seating...however, the m3 coupe and covertible is the only that can still seat 4 relatively comfortably among the 3 you mentioned. price is another factor.... the C2S and the R8 are more similarly priced so if i can afford the R8, i'd love to go for it.

the m3 and 911 are relatively common nowadays and it doesnt have the R8 supercar look that makes people turn heads... of course if you drive around in an R8, you better not park your car in any bad neighborhoods since youre going to be the first one to get car jacked/robbed.

id take the c2s, then the m3...dont really love the r8 for the money-not an audi fan, so... ...personally, if i was looking at that kind of cash now, i would pick up a maserati or a aston martin...

Seeing how you're in Singapore, I would go with the M.... won't they depreciate less there? The Audi and PCar will depreciate more in your economy.... unless you don't really live there...

That's a pretty widespread set of choices.

R8 definitely wins the flash factor, the C2S PDK is probably the fastest around a track, and the M3 is most practical.

A critical issue is if you need the 4 seats and the utility the M3 offers or not. If you don't, I'd go for the lighter P-car if the extra cost is not an issue (I personally don't think the extra $20-25k is justified).

This needs to be posted here btw as opposed to the main page:

The R8 is a great all around car. Doesn't lack torque or power by comparison to the M3. If power is what you are looking for the PDK is an excellent choice. I have both the M3 and the R8 and comes down to what I'm using the car for on the particular day. If I know I will be doing some shopping, then it will either be the Q7, M5, or M3, in that order. The build quality of the R8 is very good and the technology in it especially the magnetic suspension works very well. My only gripe with it is the lack of hp for my taste. This is why I will be selling the V8 for the V10 towards the end of the year.

I'd go C2S
Yeah, storage is a bitch but it's not really a consideration for me when buying a sports car. I actually use mine almost as a daily driver. Also I have fit 2 adults in the back of my 911 before but I'd rather not every do that again and I doubt they would want to either...

I still think the M3 is the greatest all arounder. The looks of the R8 doesn't do it for me. Seems like too much flash. It's the newest one on the market and they wanted to make a splash. The 911 and the M3 seem more.... "subtle". Also wouldn't the Audi be the most costly and the lengthiest wait for one right now? I know in Canada it would be.

The R8 sure doesn't lack in fun factor. One of those cars that will be great for a long long time. An awd you can actually hang the rearend out around any turn. Just make sure you get the manual gated shifter. R8's are holding value in the states very well.

The R8 is so hot. I saw a white one with a color matched side blade yesterday. It looked amazing.

An R8 is considerably more expensive then an M3! Is it not?
