Inspection

I need to get my usual annual inspection done here in Houston, Texas. Do you guys really believe I should go to the dealer for this or would it be fine if I got it done at Firestone? I know the guys are Firestone very well, so I do trust them. What do you guys think?

If you have a dealer you can trust I would go to them. They are trained
for your car and another thing to consider is the ability to track/record the
services done on your car by factory tech's when it comes time to sell it.
I personally would want to see a service history report from BMW before
buying a used M. Just my 2 cents...

Why would you let somebody else other than the dealer to do the inspection, when is clearly under the warranty period and it will be at no cost to you? Firestone can check the car, but they won't know exactly what to look for. The techs at the dealer are trained technicians that will know what to look for and replace whatever needs replacing. Just my 0.02cents.

i would take it to the dealer (BMW Houston North?)...

plus i believe Texas sets the price to charge around ~$40.00 for the inspection.

I guess I will take it to the dealer then. I knew it would be a better idea, but the reason I wanted to take it to firestone was because I have no time at all this week to go to the dealer and I just got 2 citations in the past 3 days for expired inspection. So I wanted to get it done asap. But I think I'll just drive another car until the weekend. Thanks for the advice!

Ok maybe confused here. Are you talking about emission inspection? Then yeah, take it to Firestone or any other place that will do that. I thought that you were talking about the vehicle mechanical inspection, done by BMW. I'm sorry for the misunderstanding on this. Well don't wait too long, or you'll get another ticket. When do you have to get your car tag?

for government inspections, u can prob just do it at firestone or any shops thats close to u. For the bmw mechanical inspection obviously do it at the dealer.

For state inspection just go to firestone. in/out and done in an hour. No need for dealer unless its a "full" vehicle inspection or service.

Talking about mechanical inspection. Has to be done every year and yes, I received 2 citations for expired inspection last week. Sucks. I took some time out and got it done at the dealer though just yesterday. Took me about 3 hours all together which was the reason I wanted to get it done at firestone so I could be out in an hour. But yeah, I understand its a much better idea to have it done by the dealer. My SA who I had a pretty good relationship with has left BMW north, so now the more I even think about going to the dealer, the more I try to resist.
