Mark, hands down you had a soild image and should be very proud of what you put out because despite your ahem... "displeasure" with the theme, you really captured it just the way it was meant to be so nice work, I really enjoy you image as well.

i like the new method, i really do. i just think that limiting to THREE is not fair. it should be a percentage of the submissions. there HAS to be a constant percentage of dedicated submitters.

damnit. i'll try to think of a theme when i get to the next rendering moment in my 12 Days of Editing extravaganza.

I'm not for or against the new method, however, it has some creases to iron out for sure before i can make a full judgement.

1, I don't think the owners of chosen photos should be allowed to vote when such a small number of images are represented, as they can only vote out of 2 each. it definitely could hurt the odds.

2. i forget cause i'm tired, but i have more thoughts.

I've been absent for a few days so I didn't actually get a chance to vote but I'm not in love with this new poll system, and not because my photo didn't make the top three. I do think, though, if we keep this top three poll system, the three judges should present what "didn't do it" for them about each one that didn't make the cut. I say that only because I feel this new system seems like it has only been put into place to expedite the contests. Just a thought.

good point. i modified it a bit for the current contest to include 35% of the submissions.
though, i could go either way: old system or new. kind of how i like my women.

we didn't do that, we only discussed what didn't do it for us from your photo.

I think i remember my second point. One issue i don't like about this method is as a learning photographer (along with many others) It doesn't feel like it supports furthering our knowledge as well.

I like knowing how i'm doing, though I never expect to win, but i like to see if anyone appreciated what i've done. If i get 1 vote out of 100 voters, I know there's stuff i need to work on, or pay more attenion to what's going on.

If i get 20 out of the 100 votes, I at least know i'm on the right track.

Another aspect is that I feel all these submissions are being allowed, and then after submission period is over, you guys decide we didn't follow the outline. Perhaps people need to be more forthcoming and say straight up before it gets to the deadline "hey Reed, want to resubmit another, it's not really what we are looking for in this contest outline." And still have a couple days to make adjustments/re-submitt. Just kind of something I saw with the after conversations.

it just feels like the learning curve for people might be stunted with this.
