m3 vs. 2012 C63 AMG
I know i'm beating a dead horse here.
Just reading that the 2012 C63 AMG will have 571hp! WTF? IMHO this continues to confirm that bmw is going the wrong way with the next m3. as the 1M has become more like the original m3 the present m3 should move up in performance and power to still lead the pack. The "green" issue doesn't add up as other makers continue to produce high peformance V8's. Not trying to start flame war but if mercedes, audi, even domestic's continue to produce V8 high performance cars pushing 500hp I won't buy another M3. HP isnt everything but jeez, BMW is taking a step down. it's like downgrading from a really hot chick to one that is although perhaps less demanding but isnt as hot when hot girls are still all around you. if I was BMW i wouldn't produce an M6 as it is now even more of a luxu-cruiser than before. Focus on the M3 as the performance leader. I love the new 6 but it's a boat. Perhaps two M3's? one with the 4.4L V8 AND a GTS version that has a S/C pushing 550hp+. ensuring M3 stays the king. I'd paying 82K for a 550+hp M3. The S65 motor would do just fine in the coming F32. Ford,Porsche and others do it. Why not BMW? Leave the 6TT for the 1M, M2 etc. don't go backwards but forwards. I know it's a pipe dream but i mourn the loss the the V8 and the M3's status as the benchmark. So in 2012 these cars will exceed the M3 in some degrees: CTS-V coupe AMG c63 coupe GTR Z28 Mustang GT500 Mustang GT Rs-5 TTRS Again, I love my e92, i just can't accept the future of the f32 M3. |

It will be a 2012 C63 AMG BLACK LINE. This is akin to M3 GTS, at the speculated over 100k price tag I don't consider the blackline to be direct competitor of regular M3. On the second comment, I think BMW is going from a car guys like to drive to one chicks like to embrace, for being green.

BMW has said of interest in creating different iterations of the M3 after the GTS's huge success. Similar to the 911's different versions. I'm excited to see what's in store.

The black line is expensive but again BMW could offer similiar uber performance M3. and yes, this green thing is gonna get out of control. Notice they had the "climate change" vacation in cancun instead of Europe this year... Too cold and too much snow there. haha.

You know BMW has changed direction when it changed marketing slogan from "Ultimate Driving Machine" to "Joy".
Ultimate Driving Machine = niche market = focused products Joy = mainstream = versatile products catering to everyone's wants BMW will make more money even if all current M3 fans abandon BMW by selling more to soccer moms and wall st. types.

BMW needs the soccer moms to fund the M division to make cars we pine for. So I'm all for them reaching out so long as they bring funds to create the next M3.
Kinda how like the Porsche Cayenne and Panamera keeps the 911 evolving.

I have faith the F32 M3, when released will again be leader of the pack. As we get closer to the end of the production cycle of the E9X M3, many cars will meet or exceed it in certain aspects. They will have their reign of about a year or so before the next M3 will set the new benchmark for at least 4 years.
I too am also excited on the uber iterations of the next M3 since the GTS was a success.

Great job to AMG. Putting more power into a car that already had a horrible time putting the power down in an overly cumbersome to drive car.
Nice.

I know there is always something better than what you have, no prob with that. I don't even puch my M3 when other cars are around. think of it like it's someone you care for. You want them to be always the best they can. Thats how I think of the M3.
Dang it! I was going to drive the X6 today but now with all this M3 talk gotta go row thru the gears! |

Top-Gear already did a comparison. Even the C63 with the new AMG performance package was no match for the ZCP M3 on the track. The M3 had thirty second faster lap times.

No shock there. We all know the M3 is a more well balanced road course designed car. However 99.9% of M3 owners drive their cars on public roads so how much does this really matter? Just to add a little information to the forum, the P31 C63 which are allegedly rated at 481 BHP are putting down 420 RWHP on a Dyno Jet. Sounds like MB is doing a W211 E55 job here. They claimed 469BHP but all stock E55's were putting down 420+WHP on a Dyno Jet.

Its Black Series not Black Line you idiots. The next Black Series is going to be the C63 coupe Black Series with the 5.5 liter V8 twin turbo. YES, THE 5.5 TT V8! InsideLine has the scoop on the C63 black series and confirmed the 5.5 TT V8.
