You only live once, and having a M3 in school is when it will get you the most ass.

Allot of expensive moving parts with a M3. Problems I did not know about until recently include bearing and connecting rod clearance issues and vanos issues. Bearings appear to be the hot topic-I just finished reading bits and pieces of this: http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=892838 All performance cars have something. Just make sure you have a warranty. No shop manual on these cars either so your in the dark if you go off warranty. IMOP. Last edited by Hulksmash; 12-21-2013 at 06:50 PM.. |

Well I figure since I am grown azz adult I can buy what I want, 40 I get to make those choices...I already have a Z4 I've had for 5 years time to upgrade..and I do make decent money so school loans won't even factor into the payments...I was asking what to look out for when looking at the M3, now the M4 is no even a thought, only person I had to get the OK from was my little lady...she's worried about the maint..told her don't no more nikes for me for a while.,

Here's some reoccurring tips for buying a used m3
1: Skip the 2008 if possible. The 2009 and later has the update and better Idrive. 2: Look at the service history closely and/or better to speak to previous owner. 3: Warranty is always a nice thing to have but it's never been a deal breaker to me. 4: Maintenance is definitely higher on these cars. Even a DIY oil change is like $120 for just supplies. Transmission fluid flush is a few hundred just for fluids too(I don't buy BMW's lifetime recommendation). Cost of gas also hurts and the fact that it guzzles yet have a small tank sucks. 5: When shit breaks, it can get comparatively more expensive. 6: Mods are expensive. Yes I think mods are maintenance items since I get the itch just as often as an oil change, lol. 7: All the other typical "buying used" recommendations apply as well. That's all I can think of right now. |
