Downgrade from ZCP to non-ZCP shocks?

Hi I'm looking for feedback concerning vehicle handling and comfort from anyone who may have replaced their worn OEM ZCP dampers with new OEM non-ZCP dampers. I would also be going from EDC to non-EDC and coding that out.

The reasoning is that my car likely won't see the track and I would prefer to spend $500 on new dampers instead of $2500. I do like EDC but willing to try this based on the cost savings. I know there are aftermarket options between those 2 extremes in pricing, but would appreciate limiting comments to the OEM options for now.

My understanding is that:
> ZCP & non-ZCP dampers have the same damping rates
> ZCP lowering comes from springs
> the perception of increased ride height when changing dampers is often due to sagging old dampers

I would appreciate any comments to confirm the above "facts", point out anything I'm missing, and weigh in on whether this is a reasonable decision.

Thanks, G.

I’m curious about this because my comp pack car has 120k miles. Suspension feels great though...

Non-EDC dampers are totally different than EDC, ZCP or not. You'd also need new non-EDC specific top mounts.

You can also get Bilstein B6 EDC shocks for less than OEM EDC replacements.

If you're willing to lose EDC, I would get the B12 Bilstein kit that comes with B8 HD shocks and Eibach springs. It's a nicely matched set which drives great on the street and is sporty enough to hold its own on the track
