Need some help with EDC suspension rplacement
I did read the sticky above but so many items are available since that post was started.
Here is what I am looking for... I am looking for an upgrade at all four corners but still keep the EDC. I am unclear if the KW system keeps the EDC function and stock button location or does it replace it with a module that needs to be placed in the car. The only one that I "Think" keeps the stock EDC and without a separate module is the BILSTEIN B16. Are there any others? I am looking to not spend over 5K. I just want the flexibility but keep the maudles to a minimum in the car. I am also unclear on the Ohlins R&T do they make a setup for our cars. I apologize if this has been answered before. My car is a MY11 DTC E92

Ohlins R&T are available, but do not use EDC.
As noted above, B16s are the only coilovers that integrate EDC. Another option is just buying fresh EDC/ZCP shocks with Dinan or ZCP springs. It really is a great setup for the street, which is my guess for your needs based on your desire to keep EDC. |

Why not suggest b6's with swift spec R springs too? I just bailed on my EDC for Ohlins R&T. A EDC delete can be had for ~$250. It was a tempting feature to keep and almost went with B6's as opposed to B16's.

I have had lots of sets of really expensive coilovers. On my street/weekend car I use OEM ZCP suspension. On my track cars I use MCS 2WNR and MCS 3WR coilovers. The MCS is just fine for the street but I find it quite pointless. More NVH for what gain? |

Can you post a side shot of the car? Curious how it sits with those springs paired to the B6.

So I’m in the same boat as the OP, I just recently picked up a 2011 zcp e92m. The original owner disclosed to me that the front left strut has a slight leak and the shop that did the ppi said it’s not that bad and should be good for at least 5-7k miles more. This buys me some time to either pony up for new zcp shocks or upgrade to better suspension.
I’ve read countless posts and searched the boards for alternatives. I know syt_shadow did some measuring of the zcp and non-zcp struts and the zcp were shorter, which leads me to believe that the zcp struts are different to accommodate the lower zcp springs. (Probably valved differently as well.) Considering that bilstein is the only one that enables edc to work but they are backordered which seems like 2-3 years ago and even till now they are back ordered I’m reluctant to order from them Incase anything is to go wrong with their suspension. Is there a definitive way to tell zcp struts from non zcp? Is anyone selling their zcp suspension? I want to keep the edc function and don’t want any dead buttons in my car. The car has almost 80k miles and I know going aftermarket not a lot of them will last past 60k miles without needing a refresh. For people that run the b6 struts do you guys run them with lowering springs or the stock zcp springs? How are they compared to the stock zcp suspension? Better? Worse? How long have you guys been running them? I’ve read somewhere here that the zcp settings for edc are different than the non-zcp cars. That the sport is dynamic suspension vs just being 75% stiffer. I’m wondering if the b6 is capable of this also or is that only available on the higher end model of the b16 damptronic? I’m a total noob with the bimmer world, I came from the jdm scene and when I needed suspension I always turned to Ohlins or other high end brands. But since I don’t want this car to ride like a race car all the time I’m really trying to stay away from the static coils and keep the functionality of edc. You can use the B6 EDC versions as direct replacements.
Dynamic shock tuning is handled by the EDC ECU not the shocks themselves, so any EDC compatible shock will function the same.
