heard so many horror stories about warranties not accepted here, really hard to resell it in canada, lots of tax to inport it from usa, .....

again, these are all the things i just heard, not 100% sure about them

I'm pretty sure I heard the opposite for warranties. Service is what is being denied commonly, as US and Canada have different service obligations/inclusions(e.g. brakes). I realize that the saving is not tremendous when you factor in tax and duty, but you still end up with savings. But the key thing is, US market has much more options available. And if you pick a sunny state, you'll even have a car that's never seen winter. I think it's worthwhile for you to research a little bit more in-depth about this option.

I think the whole resell stuff on Canadian cars is just FUD. When it came time for me to sell my US G35 Coupe in Canada, it took about 3 months (I wasn't ever really committed to selling it so I only posted on Kijiji and Craigslist). It sold for what a comparable Canadian one did, mainly because it was in great shape, and it had a few extra US options on it that the same year Canadian model didn't. At the end of the day, if you're going to do a private sale and you take care of your car, you'll get a good price for it regardless of origin.

BMW dealerships in canada told me that the maintenance would not be covered if i bring it from usa. please tell me what is covered and what is not covered then if i import it from usa?

it doesn't make sense for me anymore, actually i am totally confused lol so they are asking for 63000 dollar for a CPO car that is 2008 and has 35000 km on it. is it reasonable? how much would it cost me to buy it brand new then ? aren't they around 78000 + gst with all their options and charges,. .... ?

please let me know, really really need your guys idea .....

thanks

Maintenance does not equal warranty, 2 separate things. Some of the things include wear and tear items such as brakes, windshield wipers, etc.

I think you're confusing it with the US pricing, if you go on BMW Canada's site and price one out.. you're easily at $85,000+(without Individual package) with most of the options, before any of the charges and taxes.

I'm not sure why you're afraid to sell a US car...sell it back to the States if you must..but as others have said. Keep your car in good condition and you'll be rewarded when you sell it...but isn't it a bit too early to be worrying about selling it anyways?

If you just listen to the dealer, they obviously want you to buy within Canada...do your own research and justify what's the right option for you...everything you want to know I have read before, so I know it's out there.
