Are stock EDC rebuildable?
Since I'm leaning toward keeping my car totally stock right now, a little curious if anyone know the OEM EDC shocks can be rebuild? Haven't seen much about it, seems like most people just get a new set of shocks or upgrade when they go out

He means the B6/B8 EDC, not the B16.
The B6/B8 is an OEM-like replacement. The B16 is a coilover with EDC functionality. I haven't heard of anywhere rebuilding these in the States. In Europe I recall there's a company that does it. |

After taking a look at Bilstein website, looks like the B6 DampTronic is the one with EDC support? Seems like it's a direct fit without any need for modification, and works with factory EDC button. I remember seeing your comment about many suspension setups. Have you tried the B6 DampTronic with factory ZCP springs? How does it compare to the OEM ZCP EDC?

I never remember whether it's the B6 or the B8 that has edc support, but any retailer will show them. It is direct fit and works with edc which is fantastic. I haven't driven any of the Bilstein EDC offerings. I do have a ton of seat time with non-edc Bilsteins like the B12 kit (b8 dampers+eibach springs). I've had the B12 kit on multiple cars and it's excellent! Even the X5 has one... I've tracked two students M3s with the B12 kit and it's a great suspension. I was not able to compare back to back vs my stock zcp edc but I'd expect the zcp edc to be more refined but the Bilstein would be sportier. A nice thing about the B6/8 dampers is they can take lowering springs properly, so you can get a nice 20-30% rate increase with dampers that are happy. If you put that spring on a oem zcp suspension you just wreck it. Last comment: My E92 with the oem zcp suspension is a weekend/mountain road car. When the time comes for replacement it'll get another oem zcp suspension. However, if I felt that the oem zcp has too much fender gap and/or felt that newish oem suspension is too softly damped/sprung and/or didn't want to pay for oem, well, I'd sleep pretty well at night with either the B12 kit or B8 dampers with different lowering springs or the B6 edc setup. |

Back in my E34 M5 days, people would use Nagengast out of Poland to refurbish their EDC dampers. They don't have anything regarding E9x's on their website, but you could try reaching out and see if they can service your dampers.

Bilstein B6 are the EDC compatible sport shock for our cars. I see them in stock here and there, rite now my wholesaler has 1 set of fronts for $570/each, and the rears are $465/each.
So a little pricey, but available option.

465 for rears is ridiculous. Rock Auto is my go to site for parts like these, and has always been for all my vehicles.

Thanks for the Rock Auto tip, I was just looking at these on Turner and thought 2 grand was crazy. They were $400 cheaper through Rock Auto.
