New E92 M3 and just ordered an exhaust

I just picked up a 2012 M3 E92 DCT ZCP in Galaxy Gray. Love it so far!

Of course, the mod bug has hit me hard, so I ordered an exhaust. So far I got this Megan Racing Axle back: http://www.redline360.com/megan-raci...-MR-ABE-BE92M3

So my question is... since it's an axle back, can I go with any intermediate pipes (or xpipes) as long as they bolt in the stock location?

For test pipes, can I just replace the primary cats with test pipes, but keep secondary? Or do people realize the most gains with both removed? I have kids, and don't want them smelling nasty exhaust fumes.

I couldn't find anyone who makes test pipes with high flow cats... does anyone know of these, and know how they dyno compared to a test pipe?

On it now that's in perfect shape (it's same exact exhaust in your link). Let me know if you want same thing but 1/2 price. If not I will be posting it for sale soon..

That's too bad.. It's in great shape. That's a good deal you got for a one new though! I'm putting a Borla Atak on mine. Going more aggressive.

Ah nice... I was considering the Borla Atak, but didn't like the tips, maybe I need to see it in person.

I unboxed the Atak last night.. Still have bubble wrap on tips but it looks like a really nice quality unit so far.

Good luck with your exhaust.. I think you may want to look at Turner test pipes and a tune.

The Turner test pipes require cutting... looks like most do. Do you know which are bolt ons?

Congratulations on the new car! I also have Megan and it makes a great sound, especially for the dollar.

All Test pipes require modifying the OEM X Pipe. They delete the primary cats. Smell is not too bad.

Bolt on mid sections are entire X Pipes and are more expensive. You can get ones with high flow cats (sport X pipe) or pure catless (like Akra GT4), although, if you are worried about fumes I would stay away.

Gains will be highest with the least restriction, i.e. remove all cats will make some more power over just primary delete. The difference is not worth compromising sound/fume issues though, so focus on that.

If you're worried about the smell Id just go with an xpipe. Any primary cat delete will smell increase volume and cause a check engine light and you'll need to purchase a tune aswell. There's plenty that come with HFC challenge,fab speed etc. I beleive most of not all require welding where it joins the first section. You can also buy an xpipe that keeps the primary cats and still get some gain
