help now! macbook pricing

I'm at the apple store. Macbook pros are on sale. $100 off. Thinking of getting the 15" i5 core(mid level) comp. 1999 normally. 1899 on sale.

Is this a good deal? I'd prefer not to be ordering a macbook online.

go to best buy, you get a 125 gift card when you buy a mac. also therea student discount dont know if you are one or not, but yeah. try to make best buy price match the apple store too, youd be lucky if they do but either way best buy is better imo

Not really. If you know any teachers they receive $200 off when it comes back to school they also include printer or I pod touch incentives. My cousin works for Apple (district manager), and tells me all the perks.

I wouldn't buy it. If you're not in a hurry, you should just wait until they release a newer model. Here is what I googled up:

Product MacBook Pro
Recommendation: Don't Buy - Updates soon *
Notes * The 15-inch and 17-inch MacBook Pro received a new build-to-order option for a 2.8 GHz Intel Core i7 processor on October 20th, 2010. The new option does not constitute a full update to the MacBook Pro line, but does suggest that a more substantial update to the full MacBook Pro lineup is not imminent.
Last Release April 13, 2010
Days Since Update 227 (Avg = 208)

http://buyersguide.macrumors.com/#MacBook_Pro

As you can see, it looks like an update will be coming very soon! Even with $100 off, it wouldn't urge me to buy one right now.

i would wait for the new iPad 2. here are the rumor new features:

The Chinese Economy Daily News is reporting that Apple will add the following five new features to the iPad 2: video phone, better mobility, USB port, new display technology and 3-axis gyroscopes.

The video-phone feature (probably FaceTime) is expected to benefit Apple iPad's webcam suppliers, while iPad 2 may adopt smaller size panels featuring thinner glass. The USB feature will allow the device to be more connection friendly, while Apple's "Retina Display" technology will enhance image and color output performance. The 3-axis gyroscopes will enhance gaming, added the paper.

Eh. All those updates are negligible to me. Video phone, won't use. Better mobility, really the thing is pretty mobile already. Usb port word be nice but not a deal breaker. Better display, its already good so another eh upgrade. 3-axis is the only upgrade worth maybe waiting for and even then I'm not going to heavy game on it anyways.

So for the $50 off I pulled the trigger on the ipad. Waiting for the new macbook pro to come out. Wifey gets the govt. discount. Now verizon better pull through with those iphones!

Not like either get major discounts until the new product comes out. Apple and deep discounts don't exactly go hand in hand.

http://www.macmall.com. Get it from there.

I got a 2.4GHz Core i5 Macbook Pro 15 with hi-res screen for $1879.99 + a free printer/scanner + free Parallels 5.0.

Screw the Apple store. You always will get ripped off there.

True story. Any software or hardware I need legitly I can usually still rock the student discount. Some hardware gives you a nice discount and most software is like 75% off.

Amazon has it for $50 bucks less plus free shipping and no sales tax. If you are a student you can sign up for a free year of amazon prime and that gets you free two day shipping.

Well my wife gets the government discount. Which I think is as much as the student/teacher discounts. Thats why we decided to hold off on the Macbook for the newer version. They do not offer any discounts for the ipads other then when they run the promotional discounts like yesterday. Plus the newer version coming out who knows when wasn't appealing enough to give back the $50 discount and wait.

No just straight to the site. Just downloaded the app. Its ok. Setup for the iPhone so the screen is small on the iPad. I don't think I'll use it that much since going to the full site is just as easy.
