Which one looks nicer? anyone got pics of either of them, or any comments?
If you roll down the windows in that car, you get a LOT of air coming in, no need at all for a sunroof. If you wanted that open top, get the convertible, otherwise, go with the CF.

I have had both sunroof and CF roof and i really cant pick one over the other. I loved having the sunroof, especially in the summer and spring bc i would always drive with it open. Now that I have the CF room i like it as well. I know this sounds like a vague answer but really if i was in your spot and it didn't matter which one you pick i would pick the one you can get the best deal on.

Bro pick what you like and what you really want... But to be honest... not a lot of people like the sunroof and if you decide to sell it... it might be faster to sell the one with a CF roof instead of sunroof...

plus M3 owners hate sunroof ... and slow...

EDIT: if your going to have the sunroof might as well get the VERT.... if i had the option i would have taken the VERT... but my deal was too good to pass...

I agree this statement is pure nonsense. In the same way, the CF roof is "FREE", so your statement is just asinine.
I'm talking about the sunroof. Why would they charge for it on other cars and not the M? The carbon fiber roof is already built into the cost of the car. By taking the sunroof, you are probably saving them money, so there's no extra charge. I wasn't implying the cf roof was "free" option. That's all

If you tall (6ft or taller), and plan to track your car you will appreciate the extra headroom by going with the CF roof option.

If you do not plan to track the car or if you are not that tall, then choose whichever "you" like.

CF roof practically makes the car, visually anyways. No brainer to me!

It's a win win situation, personally I like having a sunroof but the Carbon Fiber is a unique thing the M3 is known for, I'm going for CF roof.

Get the one with the 4.0L V8. That's what makes the M3.

A sunroof is free on almost all BMW's. You can delete the sunroof for no charge though.

I have the sunroof out of ignorance when I made my purchase. All things being equal, I would have opted for the CF. Much nicer look.

For three years before I purchased my E90 I had envisioned owning an M3 in Coupe form, Alpine White with CF roof. There's a reason so many of the folks here own that configuration. It looks incredible, has performance benefits (the CF roof.....not the color) and is a unique touch that really makes the E92 stand out from more run-of-the-mill 3-Series cars.

In the end, I went with a sedan because I have two kids and there was just something about the revised version of the sedan's rear that I liked.....perhaps a bit more muscular.

I didn't end up with the M3 I figured I would, but I'm very happy with the sedan and while I doubt I would miss the sunroof, I do cock it up at the rear for ventilation pretty frequently.

Now if BMW would make the rear quarter windows (I think that's what they're called) on the E92's crack open like they did on the E46 M3......that would be waaay cool. It would most likely serve just as well as the sunroof for ventilation purposes.

Best of all worlds.

Get what you like. if you don't want or figure you'll use a sunroof, CF is the way to go for performance alone IMO. The super sexy look is a pretty nice bonus.

I would even consider having IND replace my roof with a CF roof if the photos I've seen of the work being done didn't terrify me. I'm sure IND would do it right, but from the photos I've seen of this mod being done elsewhere it looks like the car gets torn apart pretty good in the process!

Hey Nate.....take and post some pics of you guys doing this install next time one comes along. I'd love to see some photos of a carbon fiber roof swap that doesn't look like it's being done in a SoCal Chop Shop!

There is a big difference between a sunroof and a convertible..... This is just turning into one of those ZCP vx non-ZCP threads where ZCP people think it is the greatest thing since sliced bread.

+1

44lbs for a moonroof vs 400lbs for the vert. Hmm, I wonder which one is going to retain the performance while giving me the open air feel?

Will you get more utility from the sunroof or the CF roof is the question you need to ask yourself. Personally I'd go CF roof.
