Id throw the C63 out of the bunch, IMO AMG is nothing special their body kits look to tacked on for my taste. The only thing they have going for them is their amazing engines. A great car in its own respect but I think across the whole AMG lineup (excluding the Black Series) there is plenty of room for improvement.
The Caddy actually surprised me when I first say the new coupes at a event I was invited to. The look for me on first impression was something like oh its nice but it has actually grown on me. The styling is actually done pretty well and with the Recaro seats the interior is pretty sporty. I also test drove the car and aside from the ZR1 and my F250 would be the only other mass produced American car I would ever consider getting. Loads of power that never seems to run out and I was barely pushing it, and above average driving feel. The M3 is just AMAZING period, no matter what anyone says i.e. too heavy, not enough torque etc.... The M3 has it all from killer styling to that roaring V8 that makes your balls tingle and make you thank god your a man. It is a amazing super car for the cost and the things that you can make it capable of doing are pretty much at your discretion and depending on how much you are willing to spend. So to sum it up I'd knock the Merc out of the bunch first and narrow it down to the CTS V Coupe and the ///M

People are referring to the C63 as if it somehow lags far behind the M3 and the V. From what I've seen the V spanks the C63, and the C63 walks the M3--but that's all straight-line acceleration. When it comes to the twisties the M3 reigns supreme over the C63, but the V is noted as having been able to keep up with the M3. I remember reading a recent comparo which said something along the lines of "the V coupe's steering feel is better than the M3's". The C63, if I'm not mistaken, is notorious for being out of control and therefore comes in last in the handling department. But what about the P31 package that bumps the C63's output to 480hp? Does that make it any more competitive against the M3 and the V? I'd have to imagine that a C63 w/ the P31 package would be a pretty good match for the M3 or the V. As far as looks go the M3 is the most sleek, and sexy, it's shape can seduce you and it's easy to get lost in it's heavily designed curves. The C63 is just plain boss and has a muscular presence that's mixed with just a small taste of the sensuality found in the M3's sheet metal. The V coupe, however, is something completely different and thus the reason I like it so much. Sure, it's proportions can seem quite off from many angles, but it's design is so unique, angry and angular, it leaps out at you and grabs your attention whether you like it or not.

Pretty good assessment. Keep in mind, whatever we say, it is YOU who'll have to live with the decision. All 3 are good in their own right ... I just prefer the M3 once everything is said and done. But that's just me ...

If you're a pimp, maybe. Or a boxing promoter.

Yeah, or if you've maybe got a pair of hairy balls and aren't afraid of being unique, but I can tell you're more of the 'fit in with the crowd' kind of guy. It's ok to be afraid.
In any case it's hilarious that people have made negative comments on those pics--black wheels with a white lip, blacked out trim and grille, and a black roof are some of the most common mods on the AW M3s on this site. So I guess by that logic everyone on here is a pimp? Or at least a boxing promoter.

If you need four doors, the c63 is a nice option since you probably won't be driving hard with your kids in the back seat. If you only need two doors, go with the m3. However, I would stay away from a SC. When you drive an m3, you will quickly realize how balanced it is. Personally, I wouldn't want to risk throwing the balance off by dropping in a SC. -SZ |

I didn't get the C63 because I wanted a coupe. That CTS-V looks like something a trekkie would drive. You can get performance wrapped in a better exterior than that, ie Porsche...
M3 ftw.

In any case, its true, maybe I just have to accept it, the V coupe is the ugly duckling of the group... Now putting a S/C on the stroker... I wonder what kind of numbers he is putting down?

I also don't trust Caddy, yet. In 3 years when I'm looking to replace my M3, I'll look at Caddy again and see how there track record is holding up. Sure BMW has issues, but Caddy and GM take it to a whole new (lower) level.

Well, it's kind of funny really, pick up a car a magazine and you'd think the CTS-V was god's gift to car enthusiasts, but after a short stint browsing CadillacForums.com you'll soon find that the car is burdened by more issues than a pinto. In an ideal world the V is almost perfect, but in reality it is plagued by quality control issues such as extreme interior creaking, the wheels click loudly when the car is turned, the supercharger isolator on the car rattles, the sunroof makes popping noises, etc, etc...the list goes on. Most people on the site have convinced themselves that the car is perfect despite all the really annoying QC issues they're having, but a few people have pm'ed me and told me the truth--they regret buying the car.

I had a feeling. I built cars for a while, and I've toured GM plants. I then went on to have GM plants and parts suppliers as clients. Nightmare, to say the least. Lots of CTS-V's at the supplier plants, not a good word was heard.
I've certainly been impressed by the reviews of the -V, and I kinda like the exterior of the Caddy as well. I'm also a torque junky, so the thought of what that engine offers intrigues me. However, I may never have another chance to be the first owner of an NA ///M car, ordered just the way I want it (esp with a V8) so that kinda swayed me to the M3.

C63 or M3. Comp Package is very nice. and the AMG package is sick too.
After owning my M3 for two years I'd like something a little faster. The way the M3 puts power down doesnt throw you back in your seat, its very linear. The C63 has the torque to give you a great adrenaline rush just mashing the Gas. In the M3, to achieve that same rush you need to drive her on a twisty road between 6 and 8k rpm. |
