You know, I thought about it. I cancelled the order for the painted reflectors, I'll have to investigate a bit more.
DOT is pretty clear about side reflector requirements on their website. NY State requires an inspection every year and the reflectors are part of it. It's amazing how against regulation the US is, but when it comes to cars, we have lots of them. For now I'm staying stock. |

What he said! takes 30 seconds to swap them out. Pretty sure no one would notice anyway. |

The clear reflectors look terrible. The grain is not as fine as the factory ones, and they get water-logged. Unfortunately no great option exists for lightly colored cars, the painted reflectors also stand out quite a bit and in some ways look worse than the bright orange one. Euro bumper is an option, which also lets you retrofit front park distance control. Vorsteiner has badass bumpers, and I think some folks modified the 1M bumpers for a neat look.

You have to be careful with those aftermarket, replica bumpers, I hear that fitting them on, can be a PITA

I had a pair of those bmw oem 'noah' covers over 4 years. They are trash. The material is not woven it is some blasted synthetic fiber that disintegrates over time making cotton like balls. It fragilizes over time. The first one was replaced under warranty after 1.5 years and second one is doing the same. Eventually it rips apart. On top of that the dimensions are wrong as seen on your picture even tough it is supposed to be sized to fit an M3. I have another cover 'sunbrella', no comparison absolutely stellar material, custom fit and quality, cost 3X the price too !

All that for $9 for the detergent and $15 for the wash, per cover. You do that once a year, the cover should last. |

I've had Kimberly-Clark "spunbound" polypropylene/polyethylene material (NOAH) covers that disintegrated as well. Don't put them in clothes dryer. Sunlight and wind movement seems to break them down eventually as well. Don't like the way those covers shed fiber onto the car as they start to age, which can be soon...

Nice upgrade! I just came from a 2011 e92 335i and got a 2011 e92 M3 similarly specked to yours! Good to see others making a similar transition. After all they are very different cars and have to really be driven differently too. I flew across the country for mine! So worth it!
Any performance mods planned? A few pics of mine Untitled by Brandon B, on Flickr Untitled by Brandon B, on Flickr

No performance mods yet, mine is still under warranty/service and as a matter of fact it's at the dealer, now, getting checked out and having items replaced under Warranty, that look worn or tired. We're also Replacing the communication's module for 4G connectivity and updating software etc. I was thinking about ESS Tuning performance E-flash ECU software though, after Warranty expires. http://esstuning.com/e9x-m3-na-e-fla...ance-software/ For now I'm very content with the beast. |

Well fellas, I did it. Today I detailed the car. As you know the tips of my MPE we're in dire need of some TLC.
I did the Dremel trick, but first I soaked them with Chemical Guys Diablo Gel. I used 0000 steel wool and a lot of elbow grease. After the car was washed and the grime removed, I used Chemical Guys Light Metal Polish to buff them up. Here's the results. |
