USB Issue - worked now not working?!
Hi,
I have just picked up my M3 E92!!! Firstly, I just want to say, probably best first impressions of a car I've ever had. Currently very very happy with my decision to join the M3 world. I picked her up and took my USB Key with all my music loaded on. Plugged it in to my USB socket... and it played!! sounded brilliant on the BMW Individual system. I drove it home and switched off the engine. I came back to the car, turned it on and all of a sudded, USB Device is not Supported!?! I have tried various other sticks and none of them work now, nor my hard drive and nor the originally USB that worked from the start?! Has anyone had this issue? Is there a work around? I am more perplexed to the fact that it worked for an entire journey and worked properly. Any help would be much appreciated!! Thanks. Cosmic |

Take the stick out before you start the car..... then start the car.. wait a little bit for the idrive to load.... plug the stick back in and give it a few secs and see if it works that way.

Sounds like it's fecked
I leave mine in all the time & if I turn the engine off & on it just carries on.

I am not sure what the issue is. I am going to take it back to BMW but it seems like an intermittent fault. I have a 32gb stick... sometimes it works, others it doesn't. I have tried a smaller capacity stick with the same results. Its as if it doesn't power the USB stick up properly.
Not sure what the dealers are going to do but replace the usb port..... annoying to say the least. Any ideas on if its a capacity issue? Thanks again guys. |

A couple of things:
The power output of the armrest USB port is 500ma...so some portable HDDs won't work. You must not use both USB ports at the same time. The contents of a big capacity stick can take a long time to appear on the idrive screen as it take a while to catalogue the contents. |
