dct is the dual clutch transmission that does not have a clutch pedal. rather it has two paddles behind the wheel that allows you to select a gear. it can also be driven in an automatic mode. 6mt is a 6 speed manual transmission, like the good old days, with a clutch pedal.

OP, from the way it sounds, I think a M driving school will fix the issue
Im going to make my guess and say that the car is DCT, or Automatic as you were probably told by the salesmen. |

I would expect someone driving an M3 to fill up with the best available fuel.
Are you telling us you've been filling with 95ron? On the other hand, isn't Vpower 100ron still available in the UK? This would be my choice. |

Your DCT M3 works perfectly and you have no complain. I am glad to hear that believe me that's great. I can understand where you are coming from with your post. I have driven a DCT but I do not own one. So you are right. But understand me well, quality control and success of the BMW DCT can not be judged by a minority of satisfied owners tracking or not. I have been on the forum before DCT was even released and have been tracking all related issues. It is very obvious that issueS with the DCT have been significant enough for a large number of owners to try to force BMW to resolve it when multiple fix have had little positive effect or failed to solve the problems or even introduced different pbs. I have seen hardcore believer of the DCT in 08 in this forum who have been left disapointed with it and have a very different view of it now. Maybe your DCT is fine but judging by the number of complaints it is a fail IMO.

In any case, if you take care to do everything smoothly, you won't encounter the jumping. I was a bit concerned too the first time I experienced it because I've never experienced this problem with any other MT car I drove. But I've never driven a car as powerful and fast as this car either. Another suggestion is simply not drive in sport+ mode, especialy in the city. It makes the throttle very sensitive and therefore very hard to drive smoothly. Last edited by AlpWtE92; 08-12-2009 at 06:39 PM.. |

Where is the cluestick smiley
you really need to use 98 ron with the M3. Also ensure that your foot is planted on the pedals as alot of the time it is that your foot has come off the pedal. First gear in an M3 is always brutal. |
