M3 vs blizzard

Really impressed with the M3 + LM60's today. Took me 25 minutes to go 1 mile, from the freeway exit to my house, because all manner of vehicles couldn't handle stop and go traffic uphill in the blizzard, but I maneuvered around everyone and left them in my flakes. People who run bald tires in winter climates should be flogged. We also have a RAV4 with all-seasons, and from what I've seen so far this season, as long as clearance isn't an issue I'd much prefer to be in the M3, more stable, not as heavy, easier to start and stop.

Nope, pretty sure the V6 RAV with 4wd and 3rd row seating is heavier than even an E93 (not counting the several packs of water bottles my wife always 'forgets' to bring in). They're closer than I initially thought though.

V6 AWD Rav4s weigh approximately same as E92 M3s: 3,699 lbs.

http://www.toyota.com/rav4/specs.html

Winter driving wise, any FWD/RWD vehicle with dedicated winter tires will outperform any AWD vehicle with all-seasons, period.

yeah, I saw the specs before I posted last time. Doesn't list options though... pretty sure mine is heavier with the options I have, and especially with all of the crap my wife keeps in it, but whatever. Point is that the M3 is a champ in the snow with winter tires. I was able to pass trucks stopping to put on chains, etc. Not what you'd expect from a RWD vehicle.

Tires make all the difference, but IMHO car doesn't even have enough traction in the dry. Great for nurburgring, horrible from 0 and around town.

People running summers in the winter need to be flogged too. Way too many people on summers with AWD making my insurance go up!
