best tires 255/285? (GTS specs)
Hey guys
since i'm really not happy with my Hankooks, i wanna change my tires. the M3 is my weekend car, no DD. my wheels: 19x9.5 ET 20 245/35/19 19x11 ET25 275/35/19 so i wanna go with larger tires, 255/35/19 and 285/30/19 which are the specs from the M3 GTS. i favorit tire is the Michelin PSS, but it's not available in 285/30/19 so which is the best tire? Yoko Advan Sport? Pirelli P Zero? or anything else? thanks for your help! |

I run Pirelli Corsas in 255/285 and they are amazing. A tad aggressive for the street but great for track.

I don't know what your suspension set-up is but you could also consider going with 275/30/19 front and 295/30/19 rear. That is the size that I have run in the past but it will require negative camber -1.6 to -2.0. The 295/30/19 will be a challenge to fit in the rear but your 11" wide rear wheel may give you just enough stretch to make it fit. I had 295/30/19 AD08's on 10.5 et22 wheels with Eibach springs and they did rub slightly on large dips in the road.

Thanks for your help. The GTS specs are the maximum i want to drive, cause i want no rubbing and no camber mod.
The P Zero (standart version) was my first choice after the PSS, but cant find any good review about it... |

I like the P-Zero. When they first came out, competing with the PS2, Goodyear GSD3 etc, they were a very strong contender. The biggest complaint on them has been treadwear, even for a Max Performance tire they seem to wear a bit faster than average, but grip and steering response are strong.
They did well on our initial test of them: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tests/...&affiliate=AW8 Even in later tests, where they were eclipsed by newer tires, they generally posted good lap times. Demerits were usually on the quiet/comfort side, and they're not quite as strong in the wet as in the dry. The Advan Sport are at their best in the wet, not as impressive in the dry. I have a set on my old 7 series and they work well in that role, but I'd like to have something with a bit crisper dry handling on an M3.

Another good tire that has not gotten a lot of hype is the Continental Sport Contact 5P. Those are very well regarded in Europe. Here in the US we do not get many sizes of that model so they never made a big splash in the marketplace.

Is this the ZCP OE Conti tire on the M3, or a different Conti?

Whaever tire size you choose, you want to stay within 30mm F/R track. Example, if you decide to get a Yoko AD08 295 rear and 255 front make sure you add a 10mm spacer @ the front.
265/295 are most popular. Go Advans AD08 if you're tracking.

Of course, if one day I go VT2, I'll have no choice but to go wider tires
