I got my '13 because I fell in love with the car at ///M school and was going to get a late '12 but it made more logic to wait another two months and get a '13. I am coming from an M Coupe and previously an E39 M5, that my wife now drives, so I have a love affair with V8 ///M motors. We will have to wait and see what the M2 and M4 bring to the table, but I would not trade or add to the collection until at least the LCI of those cars.

I'm in the same situation last V8 motivated me to get the M3.

I got a 2013 because this was the year I had a chance to pull the trigger. If it was 2008, it would not matter. An M3 is an M3. A 5 year old car that still turns heads will continue to turn heads years from now. Damn, I turn my head every time i see any M3 even the fake ones.

I had a 2011, got a GTR and then realized I missed the M3 massively, so I'm back with a 2013!! I'll keep this for a long time and maybe eventually get the next gen. M3.. maybe..

My plan is to keep this one for as long as she will lasts.

I hope to pick up another M3 or maybe M4 as long as the ///M DNA is retained in the next generation, but I would not want to give this one up.

+1

I prefer something that's been out for a while. Greater chance of having the bugs ironed out, more features added as standard, perhaps more interesting options (e.g. competition package). I don't mind driving "the old model" x many years and never have.

That said, the main reason I waited till 2013 was to pay off my house first.

Adding up the remaining lease payments and residual, I was paying almost as much for my 2011 as I would for a new 2013, albeit with fewer options (though just the options I wanted). It was a no-brainer, really. The additional cost I failed to consider was the five-month wait without either car, a sad and painful period that will come to around first week of February.

Nice color! That's one of a kind I want to say. What color is it? It doesn't look like dakar yellow or an orange. It's something else.

It confers balls of steel and is compensatory for insecure M3 drivers.

I owned an '11 335is and wanted a na car. I considered a vette and a Porsche 991. Then my dealer had a Lime Rock M3 on the floor and I thought "wow". The next week the LM was gone and he had an all black M3 with DCT, ZCP, ZPP, Sat and Apps on the floor and I grabbed it. I was motivated by the loyalty and $1500 credit plus what I thought was strong trade in money for my 335is. I did pay $1400 over invoice but the whole deal made sense. Finally I wanted to lease so I'd get the credits and the low money factor and extremely high residual of 62% for 10k 36 months. The other thing was I got a big check after paying the drive off.

Her garage list says "Speed Yellow". Very cool. An inspiration for me since she's (also) a rare woman on these boards and likes to race her M.

I love V8's and this was my last chance. I have also been wanting an M3 for years , but this is the first time I have been able to make it work financially. I personally think the cars will continue to improve and many of us will want the newer car in 2-3 years, but for now I love the engine and the DCT transmission in this car. You can't wait forever to see what will come out next, you've got to pull the trigger at some point.

There isn't an option for this but I looked into trading my 08 in for a 13 and couldn't justify it. But I'm not really worried about apps, bluetooth audio, and things like that.
