Delivery Miles?

Hi,

When my M3 (E93) gets delivered at the dealer, should I be expecting any mileage on the clock? I would have expected just 0 but does someone actually get to drive the thing before you?

Mine had 8. 7-20 seems to be the normal range for US delivered vehicles, but my guess would be that it varies from country to country depending on the import/prep process.

it's driven for 1-2 miles before it gets to your dealer. then dealer might drive it for a couple more. as long as you're under 5 you're okay. more you should throw a fit

My Z had 16 when I took delivery, clearly someone went for a Joy ride.

When My car arrives in the US, I will call the dealer and let them know that under no means is anyone allowed to drive my car, including any employee at the dealership. Let them know that you care and will be pist off big time if they do; they'll just wait for another car to go for a joyride in since the probably don't want to piss you off.

Mine had 11. I thought is was a few too many, but the dealer explained where they came from. As long as you are under 20, it should be ok.

For US deliveries, the cars need to be driven onto the train/truck out of the factory, into the lots on the docks, onto the ship, out of the ship in the a lot on the docs, through the delivery center, onto a truck, out of a truck onto the dealership lot, to and from the gas station. That can add up to 10 miles. After 10 miles I'd start asking some hard questions. Mine had 8.

Well Put. You can't expect zero or even just one mile. The car needs to be prepared to be bought. It all depends on your CA's Facilities.

Mine had 6...they said 3 of those were to drive down to the gas station...Like others have said....Once it gets over 10...you should start asking questions.

Thanks for your thoughts chaps. Anyone know how many delivery miles to ex[ect in the UK? My M3 will be the first delivered to my dealer and I'm scared they may "try" it?!!!

I had 8 miles on it at delivery. The general manager drove it around the block an hour before I bought it. He swears he did'nt go over 5500 rpm. Whatever.

Dealer will have to do a QC inspection and add gas, which will put on at least 2 to 3 miles on top of the transport to and from miles.

Also, I doubt the techs that perform the QC stay under 5.5K, which is unfortunate.

Anyhow, I'll find out the verdict on my car when I pick her up tomorrow!

my ordered BMW's - thru Oxnard generally have 7 or 8 miles. may somtimes depend on the port.
