Handheld OBD2 scanner for clearing CEL
Does anyone know if these $80-100 handheld scanners will clear the CEL's on the e92 M3? I have heard that some of the BMW error codes are proprietary and may not work with some of these scanners.
Will this Mac tools one work? If not, which one would you guys recommend? http://www.mactools.com/product/tabi...9341-ET97.aspx |

The Bavarian Technic tool is the best one around for this.

Yea, I'm sure it's good...but it's also about $300 for the enthusiast model. Will the handheld scanners (like the link I provided) work?

Agreed - having said that I use my Kiwi Wifi via my iphone much more frequently - quick and dont need the laptop. Since always have my phone handy makes it more convenient. Really depends how much functionality you really need. |

^LOL..yea the thing I like about the BT tool is that it doesnt use generic fault codes either..but the BMW codes..and it provides explanations of codes..also you can datalog, lambda adaptations, register batteries...etc....its alot of tool for the money imo.
OP I bought the enthusiast used with 2 VIN #s on it for $175 |

Technic - I completely understand that.. Tune will come eventually...but in the interim I need something to clear CEL. Preferrably something that is economical.

I think I'll go with the scanner tool over the Burger fix....with the scanner I can use it for other things wheras the BMS is a one trick pony. I'm going to get a Tune eventually so the BMS product would then become useless for me...whereas the scanner could still be of use.
Thanks all for the help. |

Cheap Pocket scanner will also delete the code and turn off the code, it will stay in the error memory, more sophisticated tool like the BT can erase the memory, great if you're still under warranty
