Just got this email back from Bimmer works in West Chester PA.

and all i have to say is

An expensive race alignment should be no more than $150. If you're an experienced tech and you've installed lowering springs more than once and you just so happen to be the slowest worker around, it would take no more than 1 hr. per corner. You would also think they would have a lift and air tools, making it super easy. I'm a hack, and I've done springs in under 3 hours before with a jack and jack stands and no air tools.

It sounds like the tech is telling the owner that he has to do the instal in a certain way to either get more hours and more pay or he just doesn't know how to do it easily.

They aren't gouging you here, the owner just doesn't know they can do the job faster.

If I were you I would send them this guide, and find a shop that will do it in 2 hours:

In my experience if you teach a shop how to do something the easy way they will just say it's unsafe and not trust you because that makes them look less knowlegable and competent and no shop wants to look dumb, so just send them the info on how to do it right and end the conversation there because they won't back down from their way of doing it, but the right thing to do is tell them how to do it right.

The person I spoke with was the owner an I believe he does alot of the installations him self. It's an authorized Dinan dealer and soon to be lambo also.
I think me not buying the parts from him also was a huge contributing factor to the inflated installation price.

No this place is just a rip off. I've tried to deal with the same guy on several different occasions. I've had ridiculous prices quoted and have even been told by Steve that he couldn't even quote me for some of the work I wanted done without actually seeing the car.

OP I found a great body/race shop in King of Prussia to do my cosmetic mods, if you need one. The guys are top notch Ferrari and Lambo Factory Certified Shop as well as all the German brands.
