ZCP + spacers + aggressive tire combo... advice/guidance needed
I am swapping out my PS2 tires tomorrow, and I am debating which set-up to go with. I am currently running a 12mm spacer up front, and 5 in the rear. However, I do plan to run a 10mm spacer in the rear, and I am at the stock ZCP height. Right now, I have 285/30/19 rears and 255/35/19 fronts, with no rubbing, no problems. LOVE the handling & feel compared to stock.
Many might think I am crazy for switching out these PS2s that I just got, but one of the rear tires developed a bubble, and I am going to have to pay $500 to replace the rear tire. I have had bad luck with tires, and I just can't foresee myself spending $500 every time something goes wrong on top of the original $1500 I spent (I know, I should have thought about this earlier, but I ordered them in a rush and didn't think it through). Plus, this provides me with an opportunity to try out some ps2 "alternatives" such as the vreds or hankooks. I would love to try out the ad08s that everyone praises, or even the re050a pole positions, but from what I understand tread life is horrible on those tires. Anyway, onto my question: I am deciding between the hankooks and vreds... I would go with the same sizing in the hankooks, but I am unsure what size I would need to run with the vreds as they do not make a 285/30 tire. I have read on here that some had rubbing in the rear with the 275/35 setup when combined with aggressive spacer set-ups. Will I run into rubbing problems with this tire in the back? Am I better off going with a 255/35 fr and 295/30 rear setup if I go with the Vreds (I know I will run into understeer issues)? Or how about a 265/30 and 295/30 setup? Again, I don't want to run into any rubbing issues. I do not plan to lower the car further, but I definitely intend to run 12/10 spacer setup. Cliffnotes: Running zcp wheels at zcp height and plan to run 12/10 spacer setup... which tire combo should I go with: 1) 255/35 & 285/30 Hankook evo v12 2) 255/35 & 275/35 Vreds 3) 255/35 & 295/30 Vreds 4) 265/30 & 295/30 Vreds Thanks in advance! If anyone wants my PS2s (fronts less than 20 miles, one rear with less than 1k), please pm me!

bump, would love to hear some feedback before I place the order. I think I am leaning toward the Vreds... the 265/295 combo is probably out because, after doing some research, I don't want the "heavy" feeling associated with going to large (esp up front). Which rears should I go with to match the 255 fronts- 275/35 or 295/30 on the zcp wheels?

Option 2. There's really no reason to go any wider than that.

my concern is that the 275/35 might be too tall to run with a 10mm spacer in the back, and result in rubbing. I definitely want to get 10mm spacers as the rears need to be pushed out a bit more. The 5mm spacers aren't cutting it.

so I just did some research, and BarryC actually ran the 275/35 vred in the rear with a 10mm spacer in the back on zcp wheels and complained of minor rubbing... Does anyone know if the coupe has more room in the rear fenders than the sedan? If not, there is my answer regarding rubbing with the 275 35

I had 12mm spacers on my rears with stock 19 rims and stock 265/35/19 PS2 tires which had very slight rubbing. I went to 275/35/19 Nitto NT05 tires and had massive rubbing on even the slightest bump or during cornering. Had to remove the spacers.

Wow, thats weird. You had slight rubbing with the stock non-zcp wheels/stock tires with 12mm spacers? Are you dropped? If not, is it because the sedans have less space back there?

I don't recommend the 255 and 285 combo on the ZCP.
Yes it's true the GTS uses the same tire sizes as that on the same wheels (except those are black), but the suspension is not the same and the additional upsize in the rear has been accounted for through suspension tuning. I recommend to stay within the factory stagger and do 255 and 275. If you want to do 285 in the rear, I suggest you do the 265's in the front. Let me know if you want to come by, I can take measurements for you and tell you what will fit for your car precisely. -Malek

I would probably run 275/30 front and 295/30 rear. See BarryC's for sale thread with his Advan wheels. He is running those sizes and the Advan's are 19 x 9 / 19 x 10 just like the ZCP wheels.

I didn't want to take the risk of the 275/35 rubbing just like it did on Barry's car, so I decided to suck it up and order another ps2 to replace the damaged one. My 10mm rear spacers came in, so I will be putting those on as well. Hopefully I will be up and running by next week. If anything happens to any of the PS2s again, I am taking them off instantly haha. They are so damn expensive! thanks all for the help. Oh and Malek- please post more pics of your car, you have the nicest stance on a zcp m3 thusfar!

We had a ZCP M3 come in a few months ago (right off the docks from receiving the car), and we performed quite a few things to it. Here's a few pictures along with the link as we did upsize the tires too:

jurrian, due to the tires, wasn't the owner not even able to run a spacer in the rear? I think I remember him complaining of rubbing in the front with 10mm spacers.. That was the reason I didn't go with ad08s (that and the supposedly poor tread life) myself...
Anyway, I will let everyone know how it goes. I just got my 10mm MS spacers, so I will be running 255/35 ps2 with 12mm spacer and 285/30 ps2 with 10mm spacer. Hoping for no rubbing in the rear...

Yeah I had asked him about that a while back and he said it rubbed with the 295 AD08s and spacers in the rear, don't know about the front though. The rear doesn't even look like it needs spacers though, the front and rears look pretty even with the fenders.

it is all personal preference. To me, I hate how the stock zcp wheels sat- they were tucked in wayy too much. Right now I have 12/5 and the rear needs more. The front can use a bit more (maybe a 15mm), but it is much better than stock as is. I hope the 10s will give me the look I want, without rubbing...

You don't need spacers with those sizes. No way I could fit my 295/30 rear (AD08) with a spacer. Not sure why you would want to anyway, it's perfectly flush.

^^^ Do your RAC's have the same offset as ZCP wheels? If not, what you are saying is irrelevant...
