My dealer finally gave me a production number yesterday, and when I tracked it the car hasn't even begun Production yet. I cancelled my order, time to look into other options. Really 3 freaking months and the car hasn't started production?!!!

Is Ryan able to get you an allocation into production sooner?

Not sure, because my previous dealer had no information. But I would take a longer timeline for delivery for better communication. My dealer had no idea when i would get my car.

Ok so I finally got an answer from my dealer. I spoke to him and he told that it was schedule for production but the reason for the delay is because they might just push me into the 2013 m3. Can anyone confirm if this is total bull because I think it is. And if it's true then I'll be pretty upset since I already got a few parts for the car.

I haven't heard that personally, but I wouldn't mind mine technically being a 2013 as long as its still produced in March, which is already way too delayed for my tastes. Let me know if you hear anything else along these lines..

Production of 2013 model year M3s starts in July. I know because my original production date was in March, but I asked for it to be delayed so I could wait to hear more about the rumored special editions/ upgraded competition package. (I don't need a car soon, I originally ordered earlier because I thought production was going to end by this summer.)

So either your dealer doesn't know what he's talking about or is mixed up with the model year change-over for other vehicles like the X3 (which *does* start *its* model year 2013 in April). I can't imagine he's talking about delaying your car until July production!

Lord... If I miss an upgraded Competition Package or Special Edition I'm going to be annoyed. Unfortunately I do need a car sooner rather than later.

The special editions coming to North America will likely be cosmetic only in nature. Insiders have been hinting that Europe though will get an M3 CSL for the final model year.

The rumor is that an upgraded competition package will be offered to North American customers instead.

But I doubt there will be any major changes...

I placed my order on 1-2-2012, I got a Prod numb on the spot but my car is yet to begin production, what are your Prod numbers mine start with 374XXXX, its almost been 8 weeks and my car still hasn't begun production, if production doesn't start within the 8 weeks I'm contemplating just picking up one locally...also I'm not sure but the deposit to put down on the order is refundable right?

CA law stipulates your deposit is 100% refundable.

My production # starts with 363 and was originally a 2011 Week 50 build. The #s can't run sequentially, because that'd be a 110k difference between you and me within a matter of weeks.

Is that for sure they will be producing a 2013 e92 M3?

Yes, confirmed here on Bimmerpost (search for last interview with Matt Russell, M Division boss for North America) and Bimmerfest (Bimmerfest Admin's interview with Matt Russell).

I also asked my dealer if they could confirm. They confirmed it was true, and have reassured me I will have an allocation for a 2013 model year vehicle.

Hmmmm, sounds like some BS to me. I ordered Jan 12 and I dont recall the date but it started production right before the end of January. It finished on the 6th of February and got on a boat on the 13 of February which is scheduled to port in San Diego on the 7th of March. The dealer tells me from that they usually have the car on their floor ready for delivery one week at the earliest but more typically 10 days to two weeks from the day it hits port.

Appears to me like the stuff was going like clockwork during that period with times for each portion pretty much as expected. I'm thinking you are either getting the run around or else there is some option on your car that has a supplier issue but the latter seems far fetched.
