M3 with off-road roof light!

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
So last night I was driving through Mulholland, Los Angeles and came up behind a moderately fast driving M3. It had one of those off roading LED bar lights which people use for night time off roading. I honestly thought this was so cool since he was illuminating the road and sides of the road like it was some kind of search light! He had ski racks on his car then I guess he found a way to modify the holders for the LED onto the racks. I wish I had gotten a picture of this but I was just enjoying the beauty of the moment! Has anyone seen this guy around or is he on the forums??

This is what the light looked like

Haha no way! I used to have an sti and wanted to install a light bar so bad but was pressured into not doing it since it looked so ridiculous. I feel like it would look more out of place on an M3, did he have other exterior mods to go with it? Was the light not absolutely blinding? Very illegal to drive with those on public roads.

I remember reading a story about some place where they charge you per LED light if turn it on while driving on roads, which doesn't seem like such a bad idea considering how much of a danger it could be.

In for pics of one on an M3 though

Yes! So while we were driving we would see oncoming cars from far away and those LED lights would go very dull with his headlights still on then the LED's would light back up! Im sure he was doing it manually.. But we only saw one car as it was 2am on Mulholland loll.. He had a defuser, a front lip and the M perf spoiler and some aftermarket wheels which I couldn't identify. It definitely looked out of place but he probably just wanted it for his own safety as I'm sure it doesn't affect performance

It can be done without looking too weird, take this S5 for example (@thomashoes on IG). Certainly different, but I actually thought it was pretty cool. I had planned on doing something similar and mounting one to my roof rack where a fairing would go for the winter, since they don't make a fairing for the aeroblades:
