Akra Evo Bumper Melting
I'm considering getting an aftermarket exhaust, and I've heard great things about the Akra evo. I've also heard about people having issues with the rear bumper melting from the heat of an aftermarket exhaust.
Anyone have issues with this on the akra evo? |

Tracked in major heat no issues here. In fact, Akra has cooled the car trunk down considerably. Ti doesn't hold heat at all.

http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthr...ht=drone+remus Geez for the amount of money these exhausts cost..you would think tip fitment would be spot on and not melting bumpers..very uncool |

The install will play a huge role if you have issues. And the exhaust will move due to the heat. Nothing you can do about that.

Let me get this straight... You are swapping out parts designed by some of the top engineers in the world because some guys sponsored by a company told you it's "better??" But when you ask the same guy about tracking, "oh no, I have a kid now" or "I just detailed my car." or "i just got new tires."

OP, help me understand how a properly fit exhaust would melt the bumper. If the exhaust is touching the bumper that would be attributed to a defective product or installation. I think one would be hard pressed to find significant manufacturing variation from Akra given the quality of the product. BMW variation in bumper or paint could have contributed to the issue though is also highly unlikely. The adjustability of the exhaust and tips is the variance that likely caused the issue. I challenge anyone to produce defensible data suggesting The Akra Evo exhaust is the root cause of any issues (check engine light exception.) Last edited by SirSpeedy; 06-11-2012 at 12:57 AM.. |

No melt - CF or Ti tips.
Anything that reduces the number of cats, will increase the amount of carbon that builds up on the back of the car. This can be removed with regular washing or claybaring. No big deal at all. |
