When I was there last weekend, the instructors said unfortunately they are not expecting the F10 M5 until after May, and after they do the break in service. Doubt you'll see it in April.

I wonder how they will handle in the heat, and if they will succumb to overheating.

Oh, I know. I was telling him that if the M5 is there in July...it should make up for the weather.

I was to pressed to wait till the fall. When I saw the spot in April open...I jumped on it immediately!

Have to agree with you on all points.

the cost for the 2 day school was $3595, but being a BMW CCA member, I got 15% off so the total was $3055.75. The cost included the following:

-2 nights of lodging at the Marriot Hotel
-Transportation to and from the center and airport
-All Meals
-2 Days of M School with professional instructors with full use of their -Facilities and designated M cars
-BMW Custom Painted Helmet (Snell rated)
-BMW Goodies (Shirt, pens, hat, fleece)
-Thumb drive with Race Keeper Instant Video Software to plug into car computer to capture video and track data
or go to bmwusa.com -> experience -> performance driving school

Hey its Vee from this past weekend at 2-Day ///M School

Thanks for the write-up and video.

This was truly a pleasure and a blast! I'd compare it to Disney World for Car Enthusiasts. I just wished it didnt end!

Now I need to get back into an ///M Car and do some track/autocross events this spring!

Great job, Looks like you had a great time! This has been on my wish list for awhile, looks like I might have to sign up for the course in August - best kind of summer vacation.

I've heard others mention to avoid summers b/c of over heating issues. So take that for what it's worth. I don't know one way or the other.

The M5s are especially prone to going into transmission limp mode, even in May.

Great details and photos! Wondering if there were any age 17 or 18 in the group? Want to register my son in the 2-day M school. He wouldn't get his license at 16, so got him a M3 that he doesn't drive much. But when he does, he has a very heavy foot and seems he could use the 2-day M school. But don't want him to feel out of place with everyone or too young.

You should visit the bmwusa.com website in the performance school area.

They have a FAQ section that addresses your questions.

Great writeup. I did the school in 2010 and what a blast. But it should come with a disclaimer--it will lead to more expenses!

In my case, it lead to me trade in a mint e36 m3 nicely modded for street/track for an e90 M3 and two track sessions per season!

as I've mentioned previously, visit the BMW Performance Driving School FAQ

look under "minimum age"

or call 1-888-345-4269 if you have any other additional questions. Better to hear it from the center than me about restrictions.

I just saw this post today. OP thanks so much for putting up the time to post this awesome report. I'll undoubtedly be doing this sometime soon. I just have to since I gave up on my first plan - ED.

Looks like a great time! I've been thinking about doing this or Skip Barber at Laguna Seca. These pictures are making me lean towards the M School
