My MCB m3 was not painted under the hood. It was just a primer/black looking color.

Do you have any info on which colors are unpainted and which ones are? Is it just the hood underside that's unpainted or the entire engine bay? An $80K car with an unpainted hood is not really what I expected to be ordering...

^^I will have to ask Ryan and Checa since they see so many indiv M3's going out. I just remember being a little puzzled when I had my MCB when I saw under the hood wasn't painted MCB but instead a primer/black color.

My MCB under the hood is black too. I've been wondering about that too. I've noticed that other individual color hoods are painted underneath the body color, except MCB. This is really strange. Why don't we MCB people get painted hoods, HUH? Mine looks just like yours did GOLFFRR.

^^is what it is I guess. It didn't really bother me but it did puzzle me when I saw that. BMW does some odd things from time to time

the first time I saw MCB, under the hood was black; I thought the owner had painted the car MCB that was originally black.

I talked to Ryan yesterday and he stated that its 50-50. Some indiv colored cars come with the under hood painted some dont. He doesn't know why and has never really looked into it. At the end of the day you are at the mercy of bmw indiv, they decide and you get what they send you.

Funny, I had my '09 Space Gray E92 M3 for 3 years and can't remember if under the hood was painted. I'm pretty sure it was.
GOLFFRR, you and I did the opposite. I went from Space Gray to MCB. And you did the opposite. Both colors are outstanding. The gray is very classy. MCB is eye catching to say the least. Love them both.

Thanks. Have you or him ever seen an unpainted hood on any color other than Monte Carlo Blue?

^^honestly me personally can't recall. I have never really paid attention, but I will from this point on. As far as Ryan goes ill ask him next time I talk to him and let you know.

Blublur: you and Eric (eclipseNA) def did the same and I was the opposite
I love space grey but kinda of miss my MCB from time to time MCB is a awesome color and def a eye catcher. thats what I loved about the color but its also what I didn't like about the color if that makes any sense.

Strange thing is, I got all the wrong attention in the Space Gray (if you know what I mean?). As of the last day of this month it'll be a year of ownership of the MCB and I don't get a second look from the wrong people. And this one has a more aggressive look to it. The Comp. Pack., The Carbon Perf. Spoiler, Carbon Perf. Mirror Caps. And with M Perf. Exhaust sounds more aggressive. And not a second look from you know who.
But the Gray one, OH My! Many instances in the three years, right from the get go. You'd think gray would blend in, but not around here.
